The Way of Love for the Lord
(Julia Kim's intimate Conversations with Our Lord by His Guidance)

Chapter  32.  Prayer is a conversation with God. (April 19, 1982)

When I was staying in a hospital due to my febrile disease, Mr. John Lee, an old man belonging to the Naju parish, visited me, saying that he would pray for my quick recovery. He prayed for me, but did not read the Bible to me. I asked him.

“John, do you not read the Bible when you pray?”

“Do I have to read the Bible during the prayer?” He asked back as if my question was unfamiliar to him.

“Prayer is a conversation with God, isn’t it?”

   “Yes.”

“If it is so, I think that we should also listen to His words while we are asking Him for something during the prayer.”

“Oh, I see. There’s an old saying that even an eighty-year-old man has something to learn from a three-year-old child. That is true of me too. For the past sixty years, I’ve taken the role of the president for laypeople at many parish churches, but today I learn a new thing from you who was baptized just last year. Thank you.”

“No, it is not me but the Lord who taught it to you. You should be grateful to the Lord.”

“He taught it to me but did so via you. So I thank both the Lord and you.”

We were so much filled with joy that we held each other’s hands and sang a hymn of praise to the Lord, “Lord! Glory and praise to You forever.” I prayed, “Lord! I am truly grateful to You. I hesitated to tell it to him because I was worried that it might be a discourtesy to him, an old man. Yet, he not only accepted it humbly but also gave praise and glory to You. I am so happy now.”

“My beloved little baby! Because you had a conversation with him in My Truth, it became a nourishment of humility for him.”
