The Way of Love for the Lord
(Julia Kim's intimate Conversations with Our Lord by His Guidance)

Chapter 53. My mother fell from the rooftop. (August 27, 1982)

When I opened my own beauty parlor for the first time in 1980, I had borrowed money from a bank to cover the initial expenses. I had worked so hard to repay the bank loan. When it had been about a year since I opened my beauty parlor, I had purchased an estate for dry-field farming. My birth mother, who had been then helping me with my household chores, planted seeds of various vegetables and of peppers on that field in her spare time.

When the peppers turned red-ripe, she picked them and spread them on the rooftop of the second floor so that they might dry in the sun. But the owner of the building who had been living on the second floor told her to remove them, saying, “As it is so hot, I will sprinkle water on the rooftop.” My mother took them away and spread them again on another rooftop of the third floor which was made of slate. It was beside the stairs.

One evening, when I was busy doing the customers’ hair, I heard the sound of a thunderous crash coming from somewhere. Even so, I was still focused on doing the customers’ hair, when a woman living across the street ran into my beauty parlor breathlessly and said to me, “Julia, your mother fell from the rooftop. She cannot even open her eyes now. I am not sure if she is alive. What in the world are you doing here now?” As soon as I heard her words, I was so startled that I automatically threw out the scissors and the comb, rushing to the place where she fell. I saw her already in a comatose state. It was an emergency, so I carried her on my back to a nearby hospital.

The doctors told me that they were not sure whether she would recover or not and that they would know her condition better after observing her for 24 hours. I began to pray for her in tears. At one moment, she suddenly opened her eyes, looking at me blankly. Then she nodded her head. Her expression suggested that she was all right. But I continued to pray for her, weeping. “O my Love, my Lord! Don’t take her life. Until now she has lived a poor life. Please revive her.”

At that time, I heard the kind voice of the Lord.

“My beloved little soul! Do not worry. If I had not helped her, she would have died. I have always been comforted by your fervent love accompanied with sacrifice and penance. So I have saved her with My love combined with your fervent love. Feel at ease. If you go to the accident scene, you will see what a dangerous place she has been rescued from.”

As soon as the Lord’s words ended, she sat up in bed as if nothing had happened, saying, “Now I am all right. I’d like to go home.” As she insisted, I brought her home. Then I went to the accident scene and found that the place where she had fallen was really horrible. A lot of timber with nails sticking out had been piled up high. It appeared to have come from demolished houses.

She had first fallen on that stack of timber, from which she fell down again, hitting her head hard against the concrete ground made of cement. Now she was completely healed of her head injury. Furthermore, her body showed no signs of being stuck with nails. I exclaimed, “Oh, what an amazing mystery of love! O Lord, glory, praise, adoration, and thanksgiving to You. Amen”
