The Way of Love for the Lord Chapter 59. Look! There is a large hole here (March 20, 1983)
In February of 1983, five months after the severe coughing, I went for a medical check-up at the public health center which was mandatory for anyone running a beauty parlor. I received the result that I should have a further re-examination at a hospital. So I went to a hospital in Gwangju and got an X-ray taken. The doctor asked me, “Do you have a family member who got tuberculosis?” I gallantly replied, “No.” He asked me again, “Then, have you ever had tuberculosis?” I replied again with a louder voice, “No.” He repeatedly asked me the same question with a suspicious look. I continued to say ‘No’. A while later, he lost his temper and cried out, “Ma’am, now that you have recovered from your tuberculosis, why do you continue lying to me, feigning ignorance?” He made me look at my X-ray, saying with an irritated voice, “Look! There is a large hole here. Will you then continue to lie to me?” I was startled to the extent of being speechless. After much reflection, the following memory came to mind. Last September I had prayed for a lady with tuberculosis at the charismatic seminar. After that, I had begun to cough hard to the extent of coughing up blood. I prayed, “O Lord! Thank You. You must have healed her. At that time I prayed that You might heal her through my redemptive suffering. As You heard my prayer, I, a poor sinner, give praise, thanks, glory, and adoration to You.” Thankfully, the Lord had allowed me to suffer her pain when I had prayed for her, grieving over her condition wholeheartedly. I rejoiced so much over her healing. When I was immersed in such happiness, I heard the voice of the Lord. “My little soul who loves her neighbors as herself! I will always live and dwell in you. Therefore, fear nothing.” “O my Lord! There is nothing I fear since You are in me and I live in You as well.” “Yes, My good soul! As you are being purified through the flames of love in My presence, you will be in My merciful Heart, living in the grace which surpasses your expectation.”
