In Naju, Korea,
the Blessed Mother has been giving us very special
signs and messages'
Rev.
Tae-Hyung Kang, Kwangmin Presbyterian Church, Kwangju, Korea
(1995)
I
am a Protestant clergyman at Kwangmin Presbyterian Church in Kwangju. First of all, I would like to
express my deepest gratitude to the Lord for allowing me an opportunity today
to write a testimony on the numerous graces that I have received from the
Blessed Mother and also on my beliefs.
Earlier
I had worked in the Gyeonggi Province, but the Lord led me to the city of Kwangju in 1993. One of
the most important events that have happened to me since I moved to Kwangju has been that I
have been frequently visiting the Blessed Mother'sHouse in Naju. In the course
of these visits, I have clearly experienced the love and graces from the living
Lord and have acquired an understanding that Jesus, in whom I had believedsince a long time ago, sent the Blessed Mother to all of us, sinners.
In otherwords, I have discovered the important lesson that the Marian devotion, as taught
by the Catholic Church, is pleasing to Jesus. For this reason, I, a Protestant
minister, am ready to face any disadvantages that may fall upon me because of
the call by my loving Jesus and my devotion to the Blessed Mother. The fact
that I, who am unworthy, have acquired the Marian devotion, has not been
associated with anyone in this world. I only hope that the Lord will protect me
to the end. Sometimes, I have also refrained from visiting the Blessed Mother’s
House to avoid inconvenience to the workers of Our Lady by frequent visits by a
Protestant clergyman, even though I have not made these visits out of mere
curiosity.
The
Bible says that faith is a gift of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 12:9). Therefore, my Marian
devotion is also a gift of the Holy Spirit, which may have some bearing for my
vocation, which I don’t know yet. On September 24, 1994, the Blessed Mother
gave us a message of love especially for the Protestants:
The
small, separated churches have not accepted me yet, but will gradually accept
me as the Mother of the Church?Spread my words of love not just to Catholics
but to all my children.
How
wonderful it would be if the churches which have been divided since the 16th
Century discontinue all the enmity and fighting and become one based on brotherly
love through the grace from the Blessed Mother! St. John of the Cross said, “Most merciful
God! Please give the Spirit of Thy Son to all the souls. Without Thee, we
cannot do anything.?/i>
The
Bible further says that not even a bird will fall from the sky, unless God
allows it (Matthew 10:29).
It can also be said that the Reformation would not have occurred without God’s
permission. The important lesson from this is that this unfortunate event in
Church history was caused by human sins and represented a chastisement from
God.
Anyhow,
the Blessed Mother'smessages give a new mission and hope to both Catholics and
Protestants. All of us should walk toward the Blessed Mother, hold her warm
hands, listen to her loving voice, be embraced in her bosom and become one as
brothers and sisters and, thereby, accomplish the important historical event of
becoming one in the Love of Jesus.
The
Blessed Mother has appeared and given messages at many places around the world
during the past several centuries. Particularly, in Naju, Korea,
she has been giving us very special signs and messages. In Naju, she has been
revealing to us numerous signs, such as tears and tears of blood, fragrant oil,
fragrance, and Eucharistic miracles, and messages for the past ten years since1985.
I understand that there is no other place in the world with such powerfuland objective manifestations for such a long time at one same location. Until
now, numerous people have personally seen, heard, touched, smelled, and
received the miraculous Communion; have drunk the water from the mountain; and
have experienced graces! Many people have also experienced cures of incurable
illnesses. In addition, countless people who had lost faith and left the Church
have repented and returned to the Lord!
In
the Bible, we find two persons who are contrasting examples. One is Judas
Iscariot, who had accompanied Jesus for three years and yet betrayed Him and
fell into eternal perdition. The other is the thief on the right of Jesus on
the Cross, who believed the Lord and was saved at the moment of his death. What
made the difference was "faith.?No matter how long one may have been a
believer, how lofty a position one may be in, and how much recognition one may
get from others, he will be deserted if he does not have the kind of faith that
Jesus can accept (Matthew 7:21-27).
The leaders of Israelat the time of Jesus believed in God, but refused to believe in Jesus. Even the
great St. Paul
had not only been an unbeliever in Jesus, but judged Him as the head of the
heretics and persecuted His disciples before his conversion. We need to
remember the following words of God which apply to our world as well as to the
past: "But I know that you do not have the love of God in you (John 5:42).
This
means that those who believed in God but lacked the love for God failed to
recognize Jesus as the Son of God and the Messiah. "The Kingdom of God
is not in speech but in power (1 Cor. 4:20). According to John 7:31 and 9:30, a person who had
been blind from birth and was cured was wondering why the Jewish leaders and
Pharisees were not believing Jesus. The same kind of things are happening in
today'sworld. Again, it is a matter of “faith.?At the time of Jesus?public
life, humans were tested on their belief in God'swork through their acceptance
of Jesus. Now in this end time, we are being tested in our belief in the work
of Jesus through our acceptance of the Blessed Mother. What is important is the
ability to discern. This ability is a power from the Lord which He gives to those
who truly love Him.
As
stated in John 10, we should become God'speople who recognize His Voice
through Jesus. By the same token, we should become the Lord'ssheep who
recognize His Voice through the Blessed Mother.
As
stated in John 17:20,
God and Jesus are One and the Blessed Mother is with Jesus. The early Fathers
of the Church had this faith and the Saints possessed it. We should become
people who inherit this tradition of faith. True faith means that one should
have a sincere desire for childlike innocence and truth and courage to deny
oneself, and willingly carry the cross for the Lord.
If
anyone refuses to believe, continues to doubt, and throws vicious accusations
despite so many signs and anxious calls by the Blessed Mother in Naju, he would
not only be persecuting the workers of the Blessed Mother, but foolishly poking
at the eyes of Jesus. The Blessed Mother is the Mother to all people. She is
the loving Mother to Catholics, Protestants and unbelievers. I sincerely hope
that her messages be spread to many people. As the Blessed Mother says, the
corruption of humans worsens day after day, and the world is standing at theedge of a cliff, inviting its own destruction.
Even the Church has beenaffected by the secular spirit and is sick. All of us must hurriedly arm
ourselves with the Immaculate Heart of Mary, wake up from sleep, and change our
lives based on the Blessed Mother'smessages, which, in turn, are based on the
Gospels. I pray in the Name of Jesus that we become one in the Lord and the Blessed
Mother. Amen.

impossible in the Name of Jesus and through the powerful intercession by our
Mother Mary!'
Rev.
Jerry Orbos, Manila, the Philippines (May 1995)
I
have visited Naju many times together with other pilgrims. Among the numerous
miracles and healings that I have witnessed, the most important one is that I
always become more aware of the Blessed Mother'slove through Julia. I feel
that the Blessed Mother is willingly and unsparingly giving her unconditional
love to us through Julia. Despite the enormous pains and fatigue that she
experiences, as she has been chosen as a victim soul for the reparation for the
sins in the world, Julia generously gives her time and attention to so manypeople.
As I am also busily involved in pastoral work and in the work ofspreading the Faith, I understand how hard and tiring it is to look after other
people and their souls. I am amazed whenever I see Julia, who is so simple,
gentle, and filled with love no matter how severe her pains and fatigue may be.
Not only I but also numerous other pilgrims also see and feel the unconditional
and overflowing love of the Blessed Mother that comes through Julia. Truly,
coming to Naju is coming home where the Blessed Mother is present through
Julia.
On
May 16, 1991, I celebrated Mass and gave Communion to Julia in the Naju parish
church. During that Mass, more than thirty pilgrims from the Philippines and I witnessed a
Eucharistic miracle. We saw that the appearance of the Eucharist was changing
into those of flesh and blood in Julia'smouth. Because of this experience, a
major change has occurred in my life. My love for the Eucharist has especially
increased, and I am giving thanks to the Blessed Mother who has drawn me closer
to her Son.
Some
time afterwards, the Lord tested me. I was celebrating a Mass at Ripa in the
Phlippines. When I finished consecrating bread and wine, I saw three flies floating
in the Precious Blood (in the form of wine) in the chalice. I was surprised and
did not know what to do. I thought that if I remove the three flies, Our Lord’s
Precious Blood would be removed also, as the flies were wet with the Precious
Blood. Our Lord was asking me, Do you love me? Do you believe that this isMy Blood??
When the time for Communion came, I said, Lord, I love Youand believe that this is Your Blood,?and drank the Precious Blood in the
chalice together with three flies in it. At that moment, I smelled an intense
fragrance of roses. In the past, I had thought that the fragrance only came
through Julia, but realized that the Lord is with us whenever we respond to Him
saying,Amen, like a child. I was able to do this because I had love
for the Lord and believed that the Lord was truly present in the Blessed
Sacrament. As I recall this experience, I again give thanks to the Lord for
allowing me to experience Him in such a special way.
In
June 1993, I again came to Naju together with a group of pilgrims from the Philippines.
I asked Julia to pray for my younger brother, Tim, and her wife, Ditas, as they
had been praying for a baby for five years. About one month after Julia began
praying for them, Ditas became pregnant and gave birth to a healthy,
good-looking boy. I praise God and give thanks to the Blessed Mother who gave
us graces through Julia.
Tim
and Ditas later told me that, when Julia was praying for them with her hands on
them, they felt a warmth and peace in their whole bodies. Indeed, nothing is
impossible in the Name of Jesus and through the powerful intercession by Our
Mother Mary!
'Ad Christum per
Mariam'
Rev.
Antonio Ha, a missionary priest from Germany
and the spiritual director for the Blue Army in Korea (June 1995)
Many
of the clergy, religious and lay people have asked me what I think of the
report that the Blessed Mother'sstatue shed tears in Naju. I often answer them
that we should leave the question of discernment to the Church, we should not
interfere with the Church'sinvestigation, and we should be obedient to the
Church.
I
have known Julia for many years. She has attended many of the Blue Army
retreats and has worked hard to promote the Blue Army publications. I know her
as an exemplary woman and mother as well as a fervent Catholic.
Later,
the phenomenon of the Blessed Mother'stears began, and Fr. Raymond Spies, who
is well equipped with knowledge in that area and is deeply devoted to the
Blessed Mother, became involved in the events in Naju. I think that was God'sProvidence.
Some
years ago, when I was at the Naju parish church to celebrate Sunday Masses, I
learned that Most Rev. Harold Henry (Archbishop of Kwangju at that time) had
first become Pastor of Naju soon after his arrival in Korea (from the United States). When he was
appointed a bishop, he asked a friend of his in New York, also a bishop, what his episcopal
motto should be. His friend in New Yorksuggested Ad Christum Per Mariam? I think that was also God'sProvidence.
ThroughArchbishop Henry, Legio Mariae was introduced to Korea. Legio Mariae'smotto is also
Ad Jesum Per Mariam.?according to the teaching by St. Louis Marie de
Montfort. Archbishop Henry became a great benefactor for Korea. In my opinion, Archbishop
Henry must have consecrated the Naju parish to the Blessed Mother while he was
the pastor there. That probably was how the Blessed Mother chose a lay person
in that parish to bring special graces.
I
have also known Rufino
Park for many years. I
was surprised to learn that Rufino had been practicing the spirituality of St.
Louis Marie de Montfort since the time he had been working at a mission chapel
on an island.
According
to Fr. Laurentin, there are more than two hundred places in the world where the
phenomena of the Blessed Mother'sapparitions or weeping through her statue are
occurring. If so, it is no surprise that the same phenomenon is happening in Korea
also.
The
faithful must pray, offer sacrifices and work hard so that the Blessed Mother
may bring many graces to the Church in Korea through her tears in Naju and
that the Church may be renewed and become more fruitful. Also we need to pray
hard that the Church leaders may make a correct decision according to God's
Will.
The messages in
Naju have helped me better understand
the signs of the times'
Rev.
Paul Se-Kwon Chun, Pastor at Surak-dong Catholic Church, Gwangwon Province, Korea (June 19, 1995)
We
who live in the 20th Century encounter reports of the Blessed Mother’s
apparitions and messages at various places in the world more often than in
previous times. Many of us seem to have a habit of paying little attention to
them. Despite such indifference, however, the Blessed Mother'sapparitions and
messages are attracting the attention of more and more people. There is an
increasing number of people spreading them and trying to practice the messages
in their lives. Of course, I am well aware of the Blessed Mother'sapparitions
in Lourdes and Fatima,
which have been approved by the Church already. It seems that our own age is
being overwhelmed with reports of apparitions and messages regardless of our
own attitude or intentions. I have given some serious thoughts to this.
We
may consider the events in Naju, which is close to us. Two years ago, I visited
Naju together with the pastor of our neighboring parish. I went there because I
thought it insufficient to rely on what I heard from others. In the Chapel in
Naju, I signed the guest book, watched a video, and saw the fragrant oil
exuding from the Blessed Mother'sstatue. I even dipped one of my fingers in
the oil. I could not see Julia, because she was suffering severe pains, but
heard from Rufino general explanations. Then, I went to the Naju Parish
Church and asked the
pastor several questions:
First,
when I asked him if the messages that Julia received contradicted any of the
Church teachings, the pastor said, No.
Second,
I asked about Julia herself. The pastor said that she was a very devout, humble
person. He said that she was a kind, exemplary Catholic.
Third,
I asked him about her husband. The pastor said that Julia'shusband was
president of the Parish council. I was satisfied with these answers and came
back. I could not find any problems. It is noteworthy that nothing in the
messages received over a period of seven or eight years is at variance with the
Church teachings. Besides, Julia was a devout Catholic and had a happy family.
I concluded that what was happening in Naju was genuine. Of course, no one can make
a definite judgment until the final decision by the Church. However, I think it
inappropriate to ignore it unconditionally in the absence of any obstacles.
More
recently, about a month ago, on May 22, I listened to Julia'stestimony at the
Okchun-dong Parish in Gangneung
City, where she was
invited to speak during a retreat. I listened to her intently. I have never
heard such a talk, so kind, well-organized and fruitful. I heard that she had
been very ill for three days before coming to Okchun. Her testimony, however,
was filled with energy, far beyond ordinary expectations. She said, Do not
try to receive special graces (charisms), because they are accompanied with
burdens and can also lead one into a swamp. Many people went the wrong way,
because they received such special graces. Please do not think that there is
anything special about me.?
That
is right! God is fair. When He gives one a special grace, He also demands a
price from that person. Julia said that everyone must accept the Blessed
Mother'smessages in a hurry and prevent the approaching disaster.
After
the retreat was over, I had an opportunity to talk with her during a meal. She
was surrounded with a powerful fragrance of roses. This fragrance, I have
heard, is a sign of the Blessed Mother'spresence. Even though I was with Julia
only briefly, I concluded that she was the Blessed Mother'sinstrument. Since
July 18, 1985, the Blessed Mother has given us a substantial amount of messagesthrough Julia.
I read these messages often with much benefit. First of all, they have helped me better understand the signs of the times. In the present
age, material civilization has been highly developed, but the Church has not
been successfully coping with it. Of course, there is the public revelation in
the Scripture, but the messages given at particular times fill what has been
empty for a long period of time and shorten the distance between God and men.
In this sense, I sincerely hope that the Blessed Mother'smessages in Naju will
be approved soon by the Church, and become spread and practiced widely.
'I cannot think of
any Marian shrine that is greater than Naju'
Rev.
Taek-Koo Kim, Seoul
(June 19, 1995)
Dear
Julia,
Praise
Jesus, Mary, and Joseph! It has been almost ten years since the Blessed Mother
began weeping in Naju. I realize how neglectful I used to be about devotion to
the Blessed Mother. I entered seminary in 1954 and was ordained a priest in
1960, thirty-five years ago. After my ordination, I lived in France for five years for more study, but never
visited Lourdes,
even though it was not too far from where I was.
I
visited Naju in 1990, five years after the miracle began there. In Naju, I
witnessed the Blessed Mother'stears of blood. After the visit, I reported to
Archbishop Yoon. The Archbishop said that he would begin investigation soon.
Afterwards,
I heard that fragrant oil was exuding from the Blessed Mother'sstatue; images
of the Sacred Host and a Chalice appeared in some of the photographs of the
Blessed Mother'sstatue taken by Julia; and the Apostolic Pro-Nuncio visited
Naju. I became very hopeful.
After
my visit to Naju, I also visited many shrines of the Blessed Mother in the
world (Belgium, Brazil, Mexico,
Australia, the United States,
and more). Among them, I cannot think of any that is greater than Naju.
After
I heard the news of the Apostolic Pro-Nuncio'svisit to Naju, I have felt that
we must do the necessary work urgently. However, I feel so powerless. I will
continue to pray to the Blessed Mother who is so concerned about Korea, Asia,
and the whole world.
Hoping
to see you soon,
Rev.
Taek-Koo Kim
Woe to me if I do
not act upon these urgent messages and spread them quickly to everyone'
Fr.
Francis Su, Sibu, Sarawak, Malaysia (August 1995)
I,
Francis Su Haw Hoo, a Catholic priest from the Diocese of Sibu, Malaysia, wish to offer testimony to the recent
miracles which occurred in Naju,
Korea, during
the 10th anniversary of the Blessed Mother'sfirst tears. I went to Naju with a
group of Singaporeans and Malaysians. We arrived in Naju on June 29, 1995, and
spent exactly four nights there, and we participated in the overnight vigils
for three consecutive nights in the Chapel (The Blessed Mother'sHouse). The
Chapel was occupied with lots of pilgrims coming from different countries. The
whole place was filled with the fragrance of roses from the statue of Mother
Mary.
On
the first night (Thursday, June 29, 1995) our group brought a lot of flowers
for Mamma Mary. Our Faith Tour Managing Director, Mr. Thomas Lui, brought a
crown for Mamma Mary. Julia Kim asked me to crown Mother Mary. I felt so
privileged to be given the honor to crown Mother Mary. Thank you Mamma Mary!
On
Friday, June 30, we went to the mountain to collect water from the miraculous
spring. The water had the fragrance of roses, indicating the presence of Mother
Mary, her friendship and love for us, her children. After we all had collected
the miracle water, some came to me for Confession. After that we prayed the
Rosary. While praying the Rosary, many looked up towards the sun, which moved
up and down; it started spinning and formed the shape of a big Host. Later, we
heard that a group of people outside the Chapel saw the sun coming down slowly
in the form of a Host and resting on the roof of the Blessed Mother'sHouse.
In
the evening at 7:30,
we participated in the tenth anniversary concelebrated Mass in the Parish Church,
which was packed to full capacity with pilgrims coming from all over the world.
The Mass was said and presided over by the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Julio Kim,
in the Korean language. The response was very good. Four priests helped to
distribute Holy Communion. Julia, who was sitting in the back of the Church dueto the huge crowd, received Holy Communion last.
She went back to her seat, andafter a few minutes, the Host in her mouth started to bleed. She was then
surrounded by large crowds of people who witnessed this occurrence. Immediately
after the Mass, the concelebrants also went and witnessed this. I saw the Host
in Julia'smouth look like flesh mingled with blood. This is a confirmation to
me that a consecrated Host is truly the Body of Jesus Christ in the form of
bread so that it can easily be consumed.
After
this we all went back to the Chapel for another overnight vigil. This night,
the place was completely jammed with people both inside and outside the Chapel.
Many people gave testimonies. I was also given the opportunity to give
testimony about my experiences during my first visit to Naju in May 1995, when
I witnessed the pain that Julia had to suffer for people who had aborted their
unborn babies. While I was still giving the testimony, Julia, who was sitting
behind me, was in pain again. Her stomach became big, just like a pregnantwoman.
This was witnessed by over a thousand people. I asked the people to prayand implore God'smercy and forgiveness on those people who are responsible for
killing so many unborn babies. Many cried and begged mercy and pardon from God.
After a while, Julia'sstomach returned to normal size. Today the greatest evil
is abortion—the killing of the innocents. At about 2:30 a.m. (Saturday morning), Julia
asked me to anoint her forehead and hands with the holy oil which I brought
along with me. I did the same to Julio, her husband. She held our hands in deep
prayers and cried in front of the statue of the Blessed Mother. I felt very
much like a child holding the hand of Mother Mary. After a while, I felt drowsy
but very peaceful. I could then feel the very strong presence of Mamma Mary.
At
3:45 a.m.,
Julia, still holding my hand, suddenly jumped up and reached her hands towards
the Crucifix above the statue of Our Lady. In that split of the moment as I
jumped up with her, I felt she was asking me to catch something falling down.
As she opened her hands, I saw, to my amazement, communion Hosts being placed
in front of Our Lady'sstatue on the altar. I counted the Hosts, and there were
seven. The Chapel was ecstatic as many present had witnessed this miracle, and
their curiosity turned into worship and prayer, worthy of Our Lord Jesus in the
Eucharist.
On
Saturday (1st of July 1995), being the first Saturday of the month, we again
had the overnight vigil. The night was crowded and filled with songs, prayers
and testimonies from priests and lay people on how Our Lady had brought them
closer to the Lord through healings and the Eucharistic Miracles. On Sunday
morning (July 2) at about 5:30,
I led the people to adore the Blessed Sacrament as taught by St. Michael the Archangel to the three children of Fatima, Lucia,
Francisco and Jacinta, after which I took one piece out of the seven miraculousHosts to bless the people present.
Then, the people lined up in a long queue tosee the miraculous Hosts and pay homage and adore the Eucharistic King. Julia and
myself then prayed over the people one by one or family by family. It took us
more than two hours to finish praying over them. I felt very sleepy and
exhausted. I looked at my watch. It was 8 o’clock in the morning.
By
Sunday night (July 2) most of the pilgrims had left Naju. That night, there
were only about a hundred people in the Chapel: 45 of us from Singapore and Malaysia,
6 from Hong Kong, 2 Australians, and the rest
were Koreans.
In
obedience to the instruction by Archbishop Youn in the Naju area, we decided to
consume the seven Hosts. I was given the privilege to receive the first Host
from Fr. Pete M. Marcial from Guam. Then, I
gave the remaining Hosts to Fr. Marcial, Julio (Julia'shusband), Rufino
(administrator of the Chapel), Kap-Joo Choi (Chairman of the Naju City
Council), Andrew (a volunteer helper) and lastly to Julia. Before Juliareceived the Host, she felt very uneasy.
But after she had received the lastHost, she bowed her head in deep union with the Lord. I laid hands on her head
and prayed over her. After a few minutes, she lifted up her head and opened her
mouth. Her mouth was filled with Blood again. Those around us cried and
worshipped the Lord. I put my finger on her tongue, and it was covered with
Blood, and I showed it to the people. I wiped my finger with a linen cloth and
the stain of Blood remained there. This linen with the stain of Blood is being
kept in the Chapel as evidence and for further scientific laboratory tests.
I
asked myself, why all these occurrences in such a short period of time? I began
to understand that this is a gift from Mother Mary as a reassurance and
reemphasis on the Eucharist. Many have lost the sense of the Real Presence of
Our Lord in the Eucharist. As a priest, I have been given the power to make Jesus
present in the lives of people through the Eucharist. The Eucharistic
occurrences on these few days have increased my faith and strengthened my
ministerial Priesthood. The celebration of the Mass and the Consecration of the
Eucharist will be a different experience to me henceforth. I testify and
reaffirm the presence of Jesus in the Eucharist and will give witness to these
occurrences.
Monday,
July 3, at 4:15 a.m.,
Yohan (one of the volunteers at the Blessed Mother'sHouse) came to our hotel
to fetch us to the Chapel to witness the big statue of Our Lady in the garden
outside the Chapel. It also shed tears. Within a short stay in Naju, I
witnessed at least eight miracles. Our trip to Naju is very meaningful and
significant to me, especially the Eucharistic Miracles.
I
believe wholeheartedly that Mamma Mary had led me to Naju to experience all
these wonderful miracles in such a short time for a grave reason. She has
undoubtedly put in my heart a strong desire and sense of urgency in responding
to her pleas and repeated requests to pray for world peace and for the
conversion of sinners. “Pray, pray a great deal and make sacrifices, for
many souls go to hell because they have no one to make sacrifices and to pray
for them?/i> (Our Lady of Fatima on 19th August 1917).
Come
to me and spread my messages of love courageously so that people may be freed
from the Red Dragon and that the Kingdom of the Lord may come. In union with
the Pope and all the bishops, let the victory of the Resurrection reach the
whole world. In this age, the devil is becoming more active to control humans
by means of human powers. My numerous poor children are following the Red
Dragon and walking toward the deep darkness, hell, in their extreme pride. They
are working in many different cunning ways to confuse people about the messages
that I give.
Oh,
my poor children. My priests, hold the hands of so many of my children who are
recklessly walking into darkness.
There
are some priests who have broken away from me and do not follow the Will of Jesus.
But, through my priests and on this soil made fertile by the blood of so many
martyrs, many souls are growing under the light from my Son and me. On the
other hand, the Red Dragon is becoming more violent. So, tell people to be
awake and pray.
Oh,
my dear priests! I want even the most corrupt souls to receive the light from
me. Therefore, be loyal to Jesus so that they may convert. Also, do not let my
tears and blood flow in vain. I want my beloved priests to become sacrificial
victims for the conversion of sinners.
Oh,
my beloved priests! My precious ones who perform the amazing miracle of the
Sacrament! Do not turn your eyes away from my messages, but have complete trust
in my Immaculate Heart and entrust everything to my guidance. Rely totally on
my Immaculate Heart through unending sacrifices and penances in order to crush
the devils who are trying to afflict you by all kinds of cunning methods.
My
Immaculate Heart will surely triumph. You will certainly see the victory, if
you accept my words.
—To Julia Kim, Naju,
July 5, 1989
Woe
to me if I do not act upon these urgent messages and spread them quickly to
everyone. I will inscribe them in my heart and have complete trust in the
Immaculate Heart of Mary and entrust everything to her guidance.
“O
Mary, my lovely Mother, I love you. I place myself under your maternal care.
Carry me in your loving arms. Feed me with your spiritual milk and teach me to
understand the Word of God. Cover me with your immaculate mantle and protect
me. I consecrate my entire life to your Immaculate Heart. I have trust in you,
Mommy. I allow myself to be led and formed by you. Just tell me what I must do.
Teach me to discover joy in prayer and to pray with my heart. Hold my hands,
Mommy, and bring me to Jesus your Son. I love you, Mamma Mary. Amen.?”
'A sworn testimony by Bishop Roman
Danylak'
I,
Bishop Roman Danylak, Apostolic Administrator of the Eparchy of Toronto for
Ukranian Catholics in Toronto, Canada, and titular bishop of Nyssa, herewith
solemnly testify that I concelebrated the Divine Liturgy or Holy Mass, with the
Reverend Fathers Aloysius Chang, parish priest of the Kwangju Archdiocese in
Korea, invited by me to assist during my visit to Korea, and Joseph Peter Finn,
retired priest of the London Diocese in Ontario on Friday, September 22, 1995,
at 5 p.m. in an open-air celebration on the grounds of the valley where a
future church is to be erected, God-willing, to the honour of the Blessed
Virgin Mary and Mother of God.
Following
the Liturgy of the Word, I delivered a brief homily for the occasion. After the
communion of the priests, Fr. Chang and I administered Holy Eucharist under
both species to Julia Kim and the eleven others. As we continued to distribute
Holy Communion to the others present, we heard the sudden sobbing of one of the
women assisting at Mass.
The Sacred Host received by Julia Kim was changed to living flesh and blood.
Fr. Joseph Finn, who had remained at the altar during the communion of the
faithful, was observing Julia; he noted that at the moment he turned to observe
Julia, he saw the white edge of the host disappearing, and changing into the
substance of living flesh.
Fr.
Chang and I returned to Julia. The Host had changed to dark red, living flesh
and blood was flowing from it. After Mass, Julia shared with us that she
experienced the Divine Flesh as a thick consistency and a copious flowing of
blood, more so than on the occasion of previous miracles of the changing of the
host into bleeding flesh. We remained in silence and prayer; all present hadthe opportunity of viewing and venerating the miraculous Host.
After somemoments I asked Julia to swallow and consume the Host. And after the Mass Julia
explained that the Host had become large and fleshy; and that she consumed it
with some difficulty. The taste of blood remained in her mouth for some time. I
then asked that she be given a glass of water, from the miraculous source of
water nearby. As she drank the water, her finger touched her lips, and a trace
of blood was visible on her finger. She rinsed her finger in the water and
drank it.
In
testimony of this, I append my signature, together with the signatures of all
the witnesses present.

'Eucharistic Miracle
in Korea reveals the Sacred Heart of
the Divine Victim'
Bishop
Roman Danylak, Toronto, Canada
It
looked like a heart when we first examined the photos taken last September
during Mass celebrated in a valley among the Naju hills in Korea. Our Lady has said she wants
a church to be built there for the salvation of many. Later, I showed these
photos to a pediatrician, Dr. Helen Owen. After an attentive examination, she
said that the heart in the photo was the size and had the exact configuration
of the heart of an infant.
Sebastian,
the layman present during the celebration with his camera, calculated the
thickness of the host turned heart in the mouth of Julia against a twig he had
in his hand. The heart was about 5 mm thick. The pediatrician further noted
various particulars, the lines of the veins in the heart and other features. It
was a perfect human heart, not like a valentine, but a real human heart, the
size of the heart of a child.
It
was 5 p.m., Friday, September 22, 1995, when two priests, Fathers Joseph Finn
of London, Ontario,
and Aloysius Chang of Korea
and I had concelebrated the Eucharist in an outdoor service amidst the Korean
mountains.
There
were sixteen Korean Catholic faithful present with Julia Kim, the Korean
visionary, and ourselves, participating in this Mass. We had prepared a large white host,
and a number of small white hosts together with the wine for the Eucharist. The
three of us had concelebrated Mass a week earlier, Friday, September 15, an
hour later at six p.m. And we had to finish the celebration by car light; it
was pitch dark.
After
that first Mass Julia came up to me with a question. She had seen a rainbow in
the night sky at the time of the consecration, and asked me what could be its
significance. The thought that occurred to me and that I shared with Julia
through our translator, was about that first biblical rainbow after the great
flood. God used it as a memorial to the first covenant he established between
Himself and the renewed mankind. We had just celebrated the memorial of the
final covenant in the Divine Liturgy, or Eucharist, when Julia saw the rainbow.
For
me it was the culmination of the day. I had been looking forward to this
celebration with expectation, not in view of witnessing a miracle, but just to
offer my daily Mass.
The
only communications we had with Julia during the week were through her Korean
translator, Raphael; our life in Naju was lived from moment to moment. We never
knew what each day would bring. We could plan nothing.
Friday,
September 22, 1995, turned out to be a day of celebration. Fr. Finn and I were
treated to a festive fish dinner at a seaside restaurant near the Pacific.
Julia and the group of the little community in Naju went all out to celebrate
our visit, together with Korean sashimi and squirming fresh squid. After lunch
we boarded our vans and continued to travel, with me wondering when we would
celebrate Mass.
It was after 4 p.m. when we drove into the compound of the valley that I knew
we were to celebrate Holy Mass.
Banquet
of the Lord
None
of us even dreamed of this other celebration that the Lord and His Mother were
preparing, a heavenly love feast at the Eucharistic banquet of the Lord at one
of the most awesome miracles granted by Our Lord in the twenty centuries of the
history of the Church; to witness the transformation of the consecrated host
and wine into the very Body, nay the very Heart, and the Precious Blood of
Jesus Christ, through the intercession of His Mother.
The
rest of us received the Eucharistic Body and Blood of Christ, but in Julia’s
mouth the Eucharistic species of the bread and the wine in the chalice, changed
to the species of flesh and blood. The rest of us savored the taste of wafer
and wine as we received Holy Communion. We knew with divine faith that these
were the very Body and Blood of Christ in the Eucharist. We were joined to the
living and glorified Christ, renewing His mystical and real oblation, offering
Himself as the Divine Victim and His Mystical Body to the Father.
As
Julia experienced the commingling of blood and flesh, the flesh expanding and
moving in her mouth and the strong odor of blood, Fr. Finn observed the white
of the host disappearing and changing into the dark red of living flesh.
In
Julia'smouth the species of unleavened bread changed into the species of flesh
and the species of wine changed into the species of blood.
In
the twilight of 5:30
p.m. that momentous Friday, the rest of us observed the moving
flesh on her tongue and filling the creases of her lips.
ONLY
LATER, as we examined the photos, did we begin to apprehend the full magnitude
of the miracle. The host had changed into a living and vibrant Heart.
For
the first time, human eyes saw the living Heart of Our Lord and Savior, the
Heart that had so loved the world that It offered Itself in the holocaust that
we might live and not be lost. All
those present at this memorable evening shared the same sentiments. We were one
in mind and heart.
It
was two months later, in November, that I finally received and read the text of
the message of Jesus to Julia during her communion. This was the French
translation of it by Fr. Spies. As I read this message from Our Lord during
that time of communion, I became aware that the words of Jesus confirmed our
conjecture.
My
Mother is now showing and revealing My Heart to a bishop.?What we had
viewed that September evening was the very Heart of Jesus.
Bread
of Life
This
is my body; this is My blood,?said Christ as He distributed the first
Eucharist to His apostles, fulfilling the promise He had given after the
multiplication of fishes and loaves on the north shore of Lake Genesareth.
Jesus is the Bread of Life.
“He
who comes to Me will never be hungry; he who has faith in me will never thirst? (Jn. 6:15). Five times Jesus repeated
and underlined and stressed that His flesh is real food, and His blood is real
drink for eternal life, that whoever eats His flesh and drinks His blood, has
life everlasting in him, and He will raise him up on the last day.
The
theology and the doctrine of the Catholic and the Orthodox Churches
have been constant to the present day. Bread and wine become the body and blood
of Christ. This promise of Christ became a stumbling block for the Jews and
scandal to the gentiles. It has remained so to liberal Catholics, theologians,
laity and even priests and scandal to the Protestants, even to the present day.
Yet
Jesus?words are clear and He never retracted them. As the Pharisees and
Sadducees, and even His disciples left Jesus; only His twelve apostles remained
with the Lord, heavy-hearted, He turned to His apostles with the question, will
you also leave Me?
And
from those banks of the sea of Tiberias He scanned the ages even to this our
present age, and watched as those who had come to know Him through His Church,
turned away in disbelief and incredulity. His lament and His accusation of the
neo-modernist intellectuals in the Church continues. Will you also leave Me?
JESUS
POURED out His Heart in His words to Julia:
Many
ecclesiastics want to make Me known through sophisticated arguments and complex
reasoning, forgetting the Eucharist, which is My very substance, and the
sublime simplicity of My Gospels, which I proclaim. They are like those that
sling mud at simple people (Message to Julia Kim, September 22, 1995).
Eucharistic
Miracles in the Catholic Church
Some
who have observed the pictures and heard the story of the miracle have raised
two specious theological arguments against them. The first invokes the
authority of the Council of Trent which proclaimed the truth that the Eucharist
contains the glorified and immutable body of Christ. Skeptics question: how,
then, could the Eucharist bleed or change into living bleeding flesh, still
less, change into a living heart? Secondly, they posture, what purpose can such
a miracle serve?
The
history of the Church records more than one hundred and sixty approved
Eucharistic miracles. I invoke two: the miracles of Lanciano and Bolsena in Italy.
At
the beginning of the eighth century a Basilian monk of Lanciano (near Chieti in Italy)
was tormented by the words of consecration during Mass. Before his eyes the Sacred Host
visibly changed into flesh, except in the center where the sacramental species
remained intact. The consecrated wine changed into bright red blood, that
coagulated into five small clots.
This
miraculous host and blood have been preserved to the present day. The popes of
that period confirmed the authenticity of the miracle. And in our own days the
Holy See commissioned a group of scientists to do laboratory research in 1970.
The
Osservatore Romano of April 3, 1971 reported their findings, which
confirmed that the blood is real blood and the flesh is real flesh composed of
cardiac muscle tissue. The flesh is heart tissue. Both the host and the blood
belong to the same person. This miracle continues now for 1,200 years.
Pope
Leo X, Clement X, Leo XIII and others have confirmed the authenticity and the
veneration or cult given to this Miraculous Eucharist.
THE
SECOND MIRACLE is the story of an unknown monk, Peter of Prague. It was the
time of the Eucharistic controversies of the 13th Century. The priest
monk Peter was celebrating Mass at the main altar in the church of Saint Christina
in Bolsena some time in 1263. The story goes that he was assailed by doubts in
the truth of the Eucharist. He continued to celebrate. As he pronounced the
words of consecration over the host and elevated the host, the unleavened bread
turned into flesh and began to bleed profusely. News reached Rome quickly and the pontiff, Pope Urban IV,
who was in Orvieto at the time, set out for Bolsena.
At
the request of the Pope the local bishop went to bring him the miraculous host.
The Pope was so eager to observe and to venerate the miracle that he hastened
to meet the returning processions. They met at the Bridge of the Sun at the
entrance to Orvieto. The Pope fell to his knees in adoration of the Eucharistic
Lord, whose bleeding Eucharistic Body lay on the corporal. The corporal has
been preserved in the Orvieto cathedral to this present day.
The
following year, August 1264, the Pope instituted the Feast of Corpus Christi in
honor of the Blessed Sacrament and he commissioned St. Thomas Aquinas to write
the office of the feast. St. Thomas?
are the hymns: O Salutaris Hostia and Tantum Ergo.
The
Church has acknowledged similar miracles, such as the bleeding of the Eucharist
in Venezuela
and elsewhere.
The
Naju Miracles
There
were nine significant Eucharistic miracles at Naju itself that preceded the
miracle I am now presenting. These miracles began with the appearances of
images of the Eucharist or the chalice in pictures taken of the weeping statue
of Our Lady in Naju. Later, the host received in communion by Julia changed
into bleeding flesh, as testified by the priests and faithful present at
Communion. The papal pro-nuncio to Korea,
Archbishop Giovanni Bulaitis, was present when an invisible hand (of St.
Michael the Archangel, as Julia later
explained) placed the large host in her hands.
Although
the diocesan commission of Kwangju has not yet spoken on the twelve Eucharistic
miracles that by now have taken place in association with Julia Kim, two
bishops, Archbishop Giovanni Bulaitis, the papal pro-nuncio to Korea and I,
have authenticated our own experiences. Archbishop Bulaitis has been following
the events of Naju and has presented his findings to Pope John Paul II.
And
to the astonishment and dismay of skeptics, the Holy Father himself, several
months ago, was also privy to the same miracle. The Eucharistic host became a
living heart during the celebration of the Eucharist in his papal chapel in the
Vatican,
when Julia Kim received Communion from his hands.
Another
difficulty I have encountered with the theologians over this has been, What
purpose could such a phenomenon serve?
We
have to ask the Author of this phenomenon and miraculous event in the first
place, not Julia or me. Who are we to dictate to the author of these miracles,
the Eucharistic Lord Himself, what He is to do with the mystery of the
Eucharistic miracles?
'The bottom line:
Credible or Not?'
Rev. Joseph Peter Finn, London, Ontario, Canada
(Excerpted
from the book: The Reality of the Living Presence published by Ave Maria Centre of Peace, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, 1996)
In
a matter of this importance we must look closely at the bottom line—the measure
or degree of credibility, faith, belief or trust that we place in this
Eucharistic event. To avoid confusion of mind let us frame our concern in the
form of a question. Is there a genuine difference in the process of evaluating
its trustworthiness as compared to assessing the credibility or trust that may
be placed in messages (verbal or visual) claimed to be channeled through a seer
(visionary)?
Let
us first examine the latter part of this question: To be carefully checked out
are several aspects: (a) Is the seer of a balanced personality, i.e. humble,
truthful, sincere, always praying against being a victim of delusion or deceit,
ever ready to be guided by the judgment of higher Church authority? (b) Are the
messages in complete agreement with the teachings of Christ and His Church (the
Magisterium)? (c) Are the messages of genuine supernatural origin in such wise
as to inspire and motivate the faithful to a deeper love and practice of our
Catholic faith?
It
is obvious that a fair assessment of these vital questions demands usually a
prayerful and lengthy process of analysis conducted usually by a group of
competent persons chosen by the local Ordinary. In time and in turn they submit
their conclusions to the same local bishop. With him rests the weighty
responsibility of final appraisal and decision. If the decision is positive,
then the faithful may give credence to the private revelation and govern their
personal spirituality accordingly.
In
the matter of a Eucharistic event as above described, there is, first of all,
no intermediary through whom messages are channeled to us. Suddenly and
unexpectedly it happens within the context of the Sacrifice of the Mass
celebrated by validly ordained Catholic celebrants—priests or bishop(s).
By
the Act of His Divine Will at the words of consecration pronounced by the
celebrant(s) Christ Jesus, Son of the living God, becomes really and truly
present under the species (outward appearances) of bread and wine.
By
a further Act of His same Divine Will Jesus can set aside the external species
in such a manner that His Sacred Flesh and Blood are readily and directly
perceived by our human senses. He can effect this on the table of the altar or
on the tongue of one who is a temple of the Holy Spirit. There seems to be no
room for deceit or trickery here. And our Adversary, Satan, dare not intrude
himself into this sacred scene.
Prompted
by the beautiful gift of our faith infused by our loving Father at baptism, all
present are called upon to make a swift judgment. Immediately and intuitively
as they gave upon the Flesh and Blood of the Lord Jesus they cry out in the
depth of their hearts like Thomas long ago in the Upper Room: My Lord and
my God.?For an awesome moment time stands still!
Furthermore,
the faithful present feel tremendously privileged to share with the celebrants
this unique moment. And the celebrants themselves, overcome with awe, humbly
realize that their intent and words are the human channel through which this
Eucharistic miracle takes place. The emphatic words of Jesus come readily to
mind: ?For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink?(Jn. 6:55). Our tiny human
minds should not trammel the limitless generosity and Divine Power of the
Eucharistic God-Man.
For
myself may I add that the Lord Jesus Himself in His divine generosity performed
this miracle.
Why
This Miracle Now
The
last question to be raised is: Why should Christ Jesus, the God-Man, perform
this type of Eucharistic Miracle at this particular time? Two factors may be
suggested. The first indicates that this added emphasis on the Eucharist
strengthens the personal faith of our Catholic priests in the Eucharist so that
in spite of the onslaughts of Satan against them they steadfastly focus all
their priestly prayer and labor for souls, in our Eucharistic Lord and
Shepherd.
A
second element relates to the faithful themselves. In this period of blatant
denial of the supernatural and of the existence of God and rampant immorality
Christ Jesus takes this extraordinary measure to stem the wholesale desertion
by countless souls who coldly abandon loving worship of Himself in His Church
and in His Eucharist.
Reliable
church authorities openly admit that in all Western Europe
the practice of our Catholic faith and consequent love and worship of our
Eucharistic Lord is dying out. In our own part of the world Sunday Eucharist is
no longer the spiritual highpoint of the week for too many Catholic families.
In Ontario, Canada, alone it is estimated that at least fifty per cent of
baptized Catholic students registered in Catholic high schools scarcely ever
attend Sunday Eucharist by themselves or with their parents. Christ Jesus in
His Eucharist is not an integral force in their young lives.
And
with a loss of the sense of what is sinful as often lamented by John Paul II
himself and the marked fall-off in recourse to the Sacrament of Reconciliation
in a worthy confession, how many sacrilegious Communions take place all over
the world today?
To
sum up, I have set forth as accurately and as clearly as I am able, my witness
and participation in the extraordinary Eucharistic event centered in the
REALITY—the GENUINE PRESENCE of the Sacred Body and Precious Blood of Our Lord
Jesus usually veiled under the outward appearances of bread and wine. This
Eucharistic event took place on Friday, September 22, 1995. For my benefit (and
I hope the reader’s) I reflected briefly on the awesome words and deeds which
Christ Jesus employed to leave for us the ineffable GIFT of Himself in the
Eucharist.

'The messages from
Naju are particularly for me and all sinners who have lost their way and are
very discouraged'
Marcia
M. Czarnecki, Mechanicsburg,
Pennsylvania (January 14, 1995)
Dear
Julia,
I
want to thank you for coming to Toronto,
Canada, so that
I could hear Our Blessed Mother'smessages given to you. I received many graces
that evening and continue to do so through reading the book, The Miracle in
Naju, Korea, and watching the videos concerning the miracles in Naju.
The
greater miracle I have received is the grace to see what the Will of God for my
life was and to desire it alone. Before hearing Our Blessed Mother'smessages
to you at Naju, I wasn’t sure what she and her Son Jesus were asking of me,
especially in my relationship with my husband. I was on the road of doing my
own will and doing what made me happy instead of doing what makes Jesus and
Mary happy. The messages from Naju are particularly for me and all sinners who
have lost their way and are feeling very discouraged by their weakness and
sinfulness.
When
I heard Mary'swords on the video, Tears of Love: ?i>How can you say
you love me and my Son when you don’t love those in your own family?? I was
shown my sinfulness and failure. I heard Our Blessed Mother calling me to unity
by loving, trusting, respecting and being faithful to my husband. It was as if
a light went on penetrating my darkened mind and softening my hardened heart. I
heard Our Lady calling me to be obedient to my spiritual director, to renounce
myself and my selfish desire, to suffer gracefully, without complaining,
uniting my sufferings with Jesus for the salvation of souls, to pray for
priests, bishops and the Holy Father, and most especially to a profound love
and a deeper belief in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.
In
trying to respond to Our Lady'smessages to you at Naju, my marriage has been
saved after twenty-two years of enormous struggles and pain. My husband has had
a profound conversion. He is now the husband that Jesus calls all husbands to
be. We pray together daily as a family and share our joys and sufferings.
On
October 25, 1994, when you walked into the Convocation Hall at the University of Toronto, a beautiful perfume emanating
from you filled the room. You smiled at us all with such love I felt the
presence of Jesus and Mary in the room. The vision you shared with us that you
had during the Eucharistic miracle on September 24, 1994, about the large ships
which were sailing in the ocean showed me I was stepping out of the safe boat
with the Eucharist—Jesus, Mary and the Holy Father into the other boat where my
desires for worldly happiness would be satisfied.
Later
that evening I cried and I heard many others crying while you prayed out loud
on our behalf for the healing and loving hands of Jesus and Mary to touch our
hearts. I felt a great hope and renewed courage to follow only Jesus and Mary
as you left the room.
To
my great amazement, you gave me the awesome gift of inviting me to meet you
after you spoke. Before going to Toronto,
I told my spiritual director my great fear of being in your presence because I
had heard you had been given the grace to read souls. Because of my sinfulness,
I was sure you would ask me to leave the auditorium before speaking to us thatevening.
Father promised me not only would you not throw me out but I would getto meet you personally and that you would hug and kiss me! You did just that.
You stood up as I came downstairs and walked towards me, took both my hands,
smiled at me and hugged and kissed me! I truly felt Jesus and Mary telling me through
you that they still loved me even though I was a terrible sinner and that they
were helping me to stand up and begin again with their love and strength to
support me.
Whenever
I have sinned again since then, I have received the grace to make a sincere
Confession and begin anew. I sincerely believe it is because of your suffering
and prayers for the conversion of poor sinners that I have received these
graces. I feel Our Blessed Mother'spowerful intercession and her merciful love
for her children. I feel her leading me ever nearer to the Eucharistic Heart of
her Son.
I
have always believed in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, but after
seeing the video on Naju and reading about the seven miracles that you have
had, my love and devotion for Jesus in the Eucharist has increased hundredfold.
Thank
you, Julia, for being Our Blessed Mother'smost humble and obedient servant. In
doing so, you are showing me and others the narrow way Jesus and Mary want us
to follow so as to bring peace to our hearts and homes and to enter Heaven
someday.
'Mother, are you
weeping
because of this sinner?'
Viviana
Lee, Gyeongnam Province, Korea (January 1995)
Praise Jesus!
I
had been a Catholic for many years, but had not paid much attention to the
Blessed Mother'slove. I was just too busy struggling with my own illness and
for my own survival. I went to Mass on Sundays and offered the morning and
evening prayers daily, but that was about all I did as a Catholic.
I
had surgery eight times for my vertebra caries (decay of the spinal
column). I suffered so much pain and got goose bumps when I even thought of
surgery. Because of this illness, I was not able to do anything: I could not
sleep on a mattress, but only on the bare floor; I could not ride a car; I
could not wash my own socks; I could not walk up stairs; I could not do
anything. It was my husband who did everything for me.
I
needed another surgery, but it would cost us ten million won (about US$10,000).
My younger sister, who was a nun working in the Naju Parish at that time, told
me about the Blessed Mother'sstatue weeping in Naju. I went to see her statue,
but it was so crowded that I came back without seeing her. The statue was in
the beauty salon owned by Julia. Actually, I did not believe that a statue
could weep.
Later
I went to Naju again and saw the Blessed Mother'sweeping through her statue. I
wept, too, and I wept a lot. I said, “Mother, why are you weeping? Are you
weeping because of this sinner? By that time, my health had deteriorated
even further. I also had cholelithiasis (the presence of gallstones), bloody
urine, and jaundice. I said to the Blessed Mother, “Mother, please do not
cry. If I am to die, I can accept it. Moved by the Blessed Mother’s
weeping, I repented my sins and wept so much—for the first time in my life.
“Mother, you are asking us to pray, because you feel so much sorrow in your
Heart.I began praying the Rosary fervently.
I
did not ask for the healing of my illness, but, while I was offering prayers of
repentance, I realized that my pains were gone and I was completely healed.
Since
that day, I have never been sick; I have never taken any medicine; and I have
never gotten any injections. I came home and told those in my home and parish,
but they had a hard time believing my words. Later, they also visited Naju and
believed when they saw the Blessed Mother'sweeping.
My
love for the Blessed Mother has been growing, and I have been visiting Naju
again and again in response to her calls. Other people who have visited Naju
with me for the past ten years have also experienced many spiritual and
physical miracles. I will introduce just one of them.
There
was a young woman named Mi-Sook Yoo. She was so sick that she visited many
hospitals and tried many medications. She even needed help in the bathroom.
None of the treatments or medicine worked. She even visited a fortune-teller
who told her that her illness had been caused by devils and she needed an
exorcism. When I invited her to go to Naju instead, she refused, saying, “I
even have trouble sitting up. How can I ride a car? I insisted, “Let’s
leave everything to the Blessed Mother and go. She came along. I let her
remain sitting up in the Chapel throughout the overnight prayer service.
Mi-Sook
spent the night in the Chapel crying so much. She received abundant graces from
the Blessed Mother.
When
she came home, her husband was in good mood. “The Blessed Mother gave us
lots of fragrance at home last night. I feel so good. How were you? He
asked his wife to join the Catholic Church. Mi-Sook was completed liberated
from illness. They were baptized and began a fervent devotional life in the
Church. Mi-Sook received the baptismal name of “Mary and her husband “Joseph.
I became their godmother.
Besides
Mi-Sook, many others who had been staying away from the Church came back to the
bosom of the Lord. Many who had not experienced the Blessed Mother'slove
before began living a life of fervent prayer and love after their visit to Naju.
I
believe that we should double our prayers after we receive special graces. I
had been facing death, but was cured. Now, I pray eighty to a hundred decades
of rosary per day and attend Mass every day. Some say, “You have been cured
already. Why are you still going to Naju? Maybe they need to be scolded by
the Lord. Too many people forget about giving thanks after receiving graces.
My
brothers and sisters! Let'snot think about worldly things but about heavenly
matters. Let us all hold the Blessed Mother'shands, get on board Mary'sArk of
Salvation and sail to the Harbor
of Heaven. Thank you.
'These were changes
that had been unthinkable before'
Catarina
Cho, Milwaukee, Wisconsin (January 22, 1995)
My
husband, Pius Jung-Ryul Ha, and myself, Catarina Jung-Ki Cho, came to the United States twenty-nine years ago and now live
in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Both of us are medical doctors.
Our children are now grown up and are doing fine. Ours has been a successful
family that many people envy. Inside us, however, we were unhappy and suffered
from spiritual dryness. My dream was to go to church together with my husband.
I
had been a Methodist since my childhood and made efforts to lead a good faith
life. My husband has been a Catholic since his college years. He received both
Baptism and Confirmation, but afterwards became an atheist. He did not go to
Mass at all after he came to this country and even criticized the children and
me for going to the Methodist church. The clergyman and others in my Methodist
church prayed for him, but to no avail. His heart was always filled with anger
and hatred. Our life was a hell day after day.
In1991, I met Maria Moon-Ja Kim, who began working in our hospital, and became
close to her. Her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Kap-In Kim living in Seattle, Washington,
were also devout Catholics. One day in January 1992, Maria brought to our home
a video about Naju, which her parents had sent her. The video had scenes of the
Blessed Mother shedding tears of blood and the messages calling us to repent
and return to God. While watching the video, nobody noticed what was going on
in my husband'smind. We only noticed that he was unusually quiet whilewatching the video. A few days later, he set out to go to church.
I asked him,What happened??He replied, I wept a lot inside while watching theBlessed Mother shedding tears of blood. I cannot insist any longer that God
does not exist or persecute Jesus any longer.?He made a Confession to a
priest and began going to Mass every Sunday. He also began praying the rosary.
It was a miracle. I suddenly remembered what I uttered a long time before: “He
will never to go church, unless there is a miracle.?He also became a more
peaceful and gentle person. In May of the same year, I was also baptized into
the Catholic Church. These were changes that had been unthinkable before.
Nextyear, in May, we went to Naju, saw the Blessed Mother'sstatue, and met Julia.
We smelled an intense fragrance of roses, saw the fragrant oil flowing down
from the Blessed Mother'sforehead, and felt a live pulse in the Blessed
Mother'shand. We also experienced spiritual healing during the overnight
prayer meeting.
On
August 20 of the same year, we received the Sacrament of Matrimony in a
Catholic church. We have changed so much since our trip to Naju and are
continuing our faith life.
We
believe that all these have been possible thanks to God'sgraces through the
Blessed Mother of Naju. We thank the Blessed Mother and Julia for suffering
pains in reparation for our sins. We also thank Maria Kim and her parents in Seattle for helping us
grow in the Faith.
'You have been
chosen as witnesses for the Lord. Spread what you saw to people around you'
Seraphina
Myung-Ok Chun, Bethesda, Maryland (June 1995)
I
belong to St. Andrew Kim Parish in Washington,
D.C. For sixteen days from the
sixth of last month (May 1995) I visited, together with several other parishioners,
Toledo, Spain (a shrine of St. Teresa of Avila); Lourdes, France; and Banneux,
Belgium. I am writing this testimony, because I feel impelled to do so after
the pilgrimage. Also, I remember what Fr. Jerry Orbos said when a Eucharistic
miracle occurred through Julia Kim during a Mass in St. Francis Church at Lanciano, Italy,
three years ago: "You have been chosen as witnesses for the Lord. Spread
what you saw to people around you.?As I begin writing, I pray to the
Blessed Mother to be with me.
Five
years ago, in 1990, there was an international Marian conference at Duquesne University
in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I decided to attend the
three-day conference, because I thought that my devotion to the Blessed Mother
was weak. The conference was attended by about seven thousand people including
several hundred priests. Among the guest speakers was Julia Kim from Korea.
For
the past twenty years of my life as an immigrant to the United States, I had felt
constrained because my English was not fluent and had never felt proud to be a
Korean. Before Julia began speaking, the rosary prayer was offered; the first
part was said in Korean and the second part in English. I prayed the Korean
part as loudly as I could, feeling proud to be a Korean. The languages were
different, but our hearts were united in prayer to the Lord and the BlessedMother.
This beautiful scene was made possible by Julia'svisit! Besides, theKoreans attending this conference received so many kisses. A large photograph
of the Blessed Mother weeping tears of blood in Naju was on display above the
platform. Every word that Julia said penetrated and moved the hearts of many
people and provided them with a turning point in their individualistic,
self-centered lives. Many were shedding tears of repentance. I also repented
the superficiality of my faith life. There were several very long lines of
people waiting to make Confessions during the conference.
During
Julia'stalk, seven thousand people including several bishops and many priests
and religious gave a standing ovation more than ten times. There also was a
miracle of the sun witnessed by many during the conference. Julia'svisit was
reported in several newspapers including the New York Times and TV
stations. The presidential staffs at the White House invited her for a talk. In
one of the rooms at the White House, Julia encouraged them to work harder to
stop abortions. Those who invited Julia made a reservation at a hotel, but,
because Julia and her companions preferred to stay at a Korean home, Ivolunteered to invite them to my home.
At that time, I had no idea about whatit involved to have Julia as a guest in my home. After Julia and her companions
arrived in my home, many people found out about it and began swarming to my
home. For the next fifteen days while Julia was in my home, many were healed of
their illnesses, and their sorrows and anxieties turned into joy by Julia’s
prayer. I was awestruck.
One
day, Julia went to give a talk at a church in Baltimore. This church was located in the
middle of a poor, predominantly black district. There was no unity among the
Koreans, because the new Korean priest wanted to start a Korean parish there,
but many were against it because of the problems in the neighborhood. Julia
visited this church and spoke for three hours. One of the priests in the
audience said that it was a miracle for him to remain sitting for so long
because he had suffered from much pain in his side. Later I heard that he did
not have any more pain after that. There also were many others healed during
Julia'svisit. That church became quite famous.
Also,
a friend of my husband had a son who had temporarily withdrawn from high school
because of an illness in his head. Nobody knew the exact nature of the problem,
but it was found that some bacteria were eating away the upper portion of his
skull, causing an intense headache and keeping him awake at night. He had
surgery several times to remove the bacteria but to no avail. Because the part
of the skull on which surgeries were performed was becoming thinner, additional
surgeries were not possible. Even at the reputable Walter Reed
Hospital, doctors did not
have any answer. I asked the boy'sfather to bring him to my home for Julia’s
prayer, but he hesitated. When I asked him again later, he agreed on the
condition that a confidential, private meeting with Julia could be arranged.
Julia
met the boy in front of a statue of Our Lady of Fatima in my home. She asked
the boy, will you become a Catholic, if you are healed? The boy said that
he would if he could enter a college. After the boy made the promise, Julia
prayed the Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be asking the
boy to repeat after her. Then, as Julia stretched out her hand to touch the
boy'shead, he suddenly stepped backward, saying, why did you press it??
Julia asked his father who was watching, “Did I press his head? The
father said that she did not even touch it yet. Nervously, the boy remained
calm while Julia prayed for him, and then went home. On the way home, he told his
father that, after so many visits to famous hospitals, Julia was the first
person who touched exactly where his pain was.
That
night, the boy'sfather called us with much excitement in his voice, “He is
sleeping! Later, he called again, “He is still sleeping! The boy
slept for fifteen hours, and, when he woke up, he said, “Can I visit her
again? Because Julia only had three more days before leaving for Korea
and there were so many people seeking her prayers, another private meeting was
not possible. However, the boy was prayed over two more times in public
gatherings. He was completely healed and is now a college junior.
Because
there were still many Koreans wanting to see and hear Julia, a retreat was
quickly arranged at a Korean Catholic church in Washington, D.C.
Many Americans learned about this and called the Archdiocesan office about the
location of the Korean church. So, many Americans also came to the retreat.
Julia spoke for five hours without an interpreter, but everyone listened
intently. Some Americans in the audience later said that, even though they
could not understand a word, they were happy because they felt the Blessed
Mother'spresence.
A
Korean woman, whom I had known, also came with her mother-in-law. She was the
one among several daughters-in-law whom their mother-in-law hated most. This
woman first hesitated to tell her mother-in-law about Julia'svisit even though
her mother-in-law had an aching side. But, with courage, she told her
mother-in-law about it, and they came together. After Julia'sprayer for her,
the mother-in-law was healed. Afterwards, she said, From now on, I only
listen to her, referring to her daughter-in-law whom she had hated most
but now loved most. They became a holy, harmonious family.
I
remember another healing. After Julia arrived for that retreat about twenty
minutes before it began, she went to bathroom four times, once every five
minutes. Julia told me that someone in the audience would be healed of kidney
disease. After the retreat, I could not find anyone whose kidney disease was
healed. So, I forgot about it. Then, about one year later, after Mass at the
Korean church, a woman by the name of Mrs. Yoon said to me, "Mrs. Chun, I
have a confession to make. I was healed of a kidney problem during Julia’svisit. I had suffered from it for a long time.
My urine had been mixed withblood. I was completely healed and offered a Mass in thanksgiving.?I said,
why are you telling me now?She said, “I was not sure at first.
I complained, “Still, you should have told me sooner. Mrs. Kim, who was
listening, said, “I was also healed. I had suffered from this disease for
more than twenty years. I even went to Seoul
for treatment, but no improvement followed. While Julia was praying for the
whole audience that day, I felt my whole body becoming very warm, and some rash
appeared on my body. A few days later, the rash disappeared and I was healed.
Until now, I have not had any problem. I think that at least four persons were
completely healed that day. I thank God for them also.
On
the day Julia and her companions were leaving for Korea, many people came to the
airport. People who hosted the conference told me that more than 50 young men
decided to enter the seminary after hearing Julia'stalk and that they still
receive about 50 phone calls every day about spiritual and physical healings.
The presidential staffs at the White House told them that, as soon as the
message book in English became available, they would keep several copies in the
White House library. Soon after Julia left for Korea, President George Bush issued
a statement discouraging abortions.
Two
years later, in 1992, I joined Julia'spilgrimage to the Holy Land and Europe. Because it was a sudden decision for me, the
airfare was several times higher than normal. But my husband gladly encouraged
me to go. In Jerusalem,
we were doing the Stations of the Cross at the Via Dolorosa, where the
Lord carried the Cross two thousand years ago. Julia was suffering severely
that day, but said that she would carry the cross from the Third Station. It
was too heavy for any one person to carry. Because of the weight of the cross
and the warm weather, Julia was sweating a lot. At the Sixth Station (where St.
Veronica wiped the Lord'sholy face), a woman from the Philippines spontaneously wiped
Julia'sface with a white handkerchief. Then, to everyone'ssurprise, thehandkerchief was wet with red blood instead of sweat!
Also, the surroundingarea became filled with an intense fragrance of roses. Even the passers-by and
merchants were experiencing the Lord'sliving presence. “The Lord saved the
whole world with His Cross.?There were many Arab merchants on both sides
of the Via Dolorosa. We were surprised when we heard some of them
speaking Korean fluently, “Ma’am! Ma’am! I will give you a good price. Hurry
up and come. I will cut the price of this bag by half. Even at this moment
when I write this testimony, how many people would be selling Jesus?name and
crucify Him on the Cross again? While being crucified on the Cross, Jesus prays
for them, Father, forgive them, because they do not know what they are
doing. Praise and glory to Jesus forever and ever!
We
were on the airplane again and landed in Paris.
Even though it was a long flight, we began sightseeing in Paris right away instead of checking into a
hotel first in order to save money. We were so tired. When we got off the bus,
I tumbled to the ground and sprained my ankle. The ankle was swelling a lot,
and I could not walk. With much difficulty, I managed to arrive at my hotelroom, supported by others. I had to discontinue the trip.
That evening, Juliacame to my room and said, “Let'spray together. We prayed the rosary,
and then she prayed more, holding a photograph of the Blessed Mother shedding
tears of blood. In the middle of the prayer, I suddenly smelled an intense
fragrance of roses and, at that moment, the pain was gone and the swelling on
my ankle subsided like a deflating balloon. I was able to continue the
pilgrimage.
Then,
we went to Lanciano, a small city about three hours?drive northeast of Rome, where the first
recorded Eucharistic miracle occurred twelve hundred years ago. In 1970, there
was a thorough investigation by scientists from different countries. They found
that the Eucharist that had miraculously turned into visible flesh and blood
during a Mass in the Eighth Century still kept all the normal properties of
human heart muscle. After the investigation, all the non-Catholic members of
the investigation team converted to Catholicism. In the same church where this
miracle occurred, we offered a Mass celebrated by Fr. Jerry Orbos. During
Communion, the Sacred Host Julia received changed into visible flesh and bloodon her tongue.
After I took a photograph, I saw more blood. After takinganother photograph, I saw the flesh becoming thicker. I took two more
photographs. I saw the Lord'sflesh and blood! Why did He reveal to us through
Julia the Mystery of the Eucharist? Why does He have to suffer cruel physical
pains? I made a resolution to show and tell others that the bread and wine
consecrated in every Mass are truly the Lord'sflesh and blood. Fr. Orbos?
words that we, who saw this miracle, were witnesses for others always remain in
my heart. I regretted that I had hesitated to make the trip because of the high
airfare, and was grateful to my husband. I thought how much better it would
have been if he had come also.
In
Lourdes I saw
that the Blessed Mother'svisit and message to St. Bernadette had already been
approved by the Church, and, as a result, huge crowds of pilgrims were coming
from all over the world, receiving so many graces of conversion and healing. In
Banneux, Belgium also, I saw that the
Blessed Mother'sapparitions had been approved by the bishop, and a beautiful
church had been built, where pilgrims could visit and offer Masses. I felt pain
in my heart when I thought that the Blessed Mother loved Korea so specially, as
it is a land soaked with the blood of so many martyrs, and gave many messages
and signs for the past ten years, but we have done very little so far and so
many people are not accepting them yet. Of course, the investigation will taketime.
But if one rejects it, jumping carelessly to the groundless conclusionthat it has all been a human fabrication, while it actually is coming from God,
it would be a grave mistake. It gave me a chill in my spine to think about
that. In fact, I have always been a “realistic?person, not easily moved by
reports of miracles. But how can I explain away what I saw and experienced on
this trip? I still pray that the Lord will lead me to become a person of faith
acceptable to Him, instead of having to rely on miracles to have faith. I am
trying to practice this faith by continuing to testify to others about what I
saw and experienced.
Holy
Mary, Mother of God, pray for us now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
'Looking back, Irealize what a preposterous pride
and arrogance it was'
Maria Soon-Ja
Park, Gyeongsan, Gyeongbuk Province, Korea
(June 8, 1995)
Praise
Jesus and Maria! I write this testimony to give thanks to the Blessed Mother
for not abandoning this sinful soul but saving me and bringing me graces and
joy. I hope that this testimony will be of some help to other souls and, thus,
become a reparation for my sins of not having trusted the Blessed Mother of
Naju. Because it is impossible to write all the wonderful experiences that I
have had, I will select just a few that seem more important.
I
first visited the Blessed Mother'sHouse in Naju on September 3, 1994. For
several years before that, I had been hearing that the Blessed Mother'sstatue
in Naju was shedding tears of blood, but I did not believe it. I thought that
it might have been tricks by the devil and, therefore, there was no need to
visit that place. I thought that it was quite sufficient to lead a good life,
faithfully carrying out the duties as a Christian and diligently attending Mass
every day. Looking back, I realize what a preposterous pride and arrogance it
was.
The
reason for my first visit to Naju was that a woman in the prayer group to which
I belonged had been healed of her breast cancer after she began pilgrimages to
Naju and invited me to come along several times. At first, I refused. Unable to
say, “No,?/i> repeatedly, I reluctantly promised to go along. Still with
some reluctance, I took an express bus with her from Daegu
to Kwangju. When I stepped into the Blessed Mother'sHouse, I smelled the fragrance of
roses. I thought that the fragrance probably was coming from the flowers on the
altar, but soon realized that it was coming from the Blessed Mother'sstatue. The overnight prayer meeting began at 9 p.m.
The Chapel was completely packed.I wondered why so many people took so much pain to be there. I even felt sorry
for them. While the prayer meeting was in progress, I suddenly heard loud
sounds of a rainstorm and a hailstorm. I was wondering, because the sky was
clear before I entered the Chapel. During the first break from 11:40 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., I went
outside and saw the sky filled with stars and no clouds. I asked other women if
they heard the sounds, but they said that they did not hear anything like that.
After
the break, Julia came out and spoke. She said that the Holy Spirit came down
that evening like a hailstorm and like a waterfall and that some of the people
in the Chapel might have heard the sounds. Ah! Ah! I thought that the merciful
and loving Mother allowed me to hear the sounds of the Holy Spirit coming down.
I began shedding tears. I wept continuously. I did not know that I had so many
tears in me. I had never wept so much in my sixty-year life. I think that they
were tears of repentance, which was a grace from God. Before leaving Naju, I
bought several videos: The Blessed Mother Weeps in Naju, Fr. Ki-Sun
Oh Interviews Julia, and Marian Apparitions of the 20th Century; and seven audio cassettes containing
Julia'sreading of the Blessed Mother'smessages.
While
watching these videos at home, I cried so much, loudly. I understood that the
Blessed Mother and Julia were suffering pains because of the sins of the human
race and because of my sins. I realized that I had hurt the Blessed Mother's
Heart, as Saul had persecuted the Church by consenting to kill Stephen and
arresting more Christians and bringing them to Jerusalem. I made up my mind to do penance
like Saul, renamed Paul, who became an apostle for spreading the Word of God. I
decided to spread the Blessed Mother'smessages energetically.
The
following Saturday, the woman, who led me to Naju, and I brought 119 pilgrims
in three buses. We continued to bring more pilgrims in subsequent First
Saturdays. Afterwards, the Pastor stopped us, and we could not be disobedient.
Instead, we began lending the message books, videos, and audio cassettes to
other parishioners and also inviting them to my home to watch the videos,
without letting the Pastor know about it.
On
November 12, 1994, I was visiting my eldest daughter in Ansan (in the Gyeonggi Province). While we were watching a video
of the Blessed Mother of Naju shedding tears of blood, Andrew, my seven
month-old grandson, who had been suffering from a congenital fever and rashes
all over his body, was unable to sleep and crying continuously because of the
itchiness. I carried the baby in my arms and fervently prayed to the BlessedMother, Blessed Mother, please show us your sign.
Please heal this baby.?
Immediately, the baby turned his head to the television screen and stared at
the scenes of the Blessed Mother'sweeping. Then, he fell asleep. At the same
time, the whole family smelled a powerful fragrance of roses and became totally
amazed. The baby'sfever decreased, and he did not have any fever next morning.
Rashes disappeared also.
On
April 11, 1995, I went to my daughter'sagain, because the following day was
Andrew'sfirst birthday. My daughter asked me, Mother, your prayer is
answered well. Please pray for Agnes (my granddaughter, a third
grader).I said, It is not my prayer that heals. If you have faith, the
Blessed Mother will heal.?Agnes had sinusitis and was blowing her nose
repeatedly. While watching the video from Naju, I put my hand on the child’s
back and prayed, Please show us a sign of your presence with us.?
Immediately, there was a bad odor from the child, as if something was burning.
Agnes was feeling much pain in her nose and throat and could not talk because
her nose and throat became stuffy. After the video ended, her condition
improved fast. She was healed completely. She has not been blowing her nose since
then.
Next
day, which was Andrew'sfirst birthday, we had guests from a Protestant
church—the clergyman and two women. There also were some of our relatives and
parishioners. While we were all watching the Naju video together, I prayed, Please
show us a sign so that these guests, who are Christians but do not respect or
love you, may recognize you as the Mother of God.?At that moment, we
smelled a very powerful fragrance of roses. Everyone was amazed. I explained to
them about the Blessed Mother of Naju with much fervor and enthusiasm. I
believe that the Holy Spirit was speaking to them through my mouth. The
clergyman and two women from the Protestant church promised that they would
certainly visit Naju on June 30, the tenth anniversary of the Blessed Mother’s
first weeping in Naju.
The
Naju video cassette has been circulating among many families in the parish and
has been an occasion for many miracles. Those who had abortions repent by
smelling the odor of blood while watching the video. Many Catholics who had
been away from the Church are repenting and are making Confessions. The
families in disharmony are restoring peace and turning into holy families. The
messages in Naju are being proved true through these fruits. I will be so
grateful to the bishops and pastors, if they stop being stubborn as I used to
be and make just one visit to Naju before making their judgment.
When
I hear that some of the priests and nuns are spreading groundless, false
accusations like, Julia sprays perfume on her clothes and handkerchiefs,?
I feel so much pain in my heart. I feel more pain when I think that these
priests and nuns are committing sins by refusing to accept the Blessed Mother’s
messages and signs and by spreading false rumors.
I
go to Naju whenever I can. I have seen numerous people experiencing healings
from their sins, evil deeds, and illnesses through the intense sufferings by
Julia. I do not go there for curiosity about miracles. I go there so that my
spiritual eyes may become more open, my life may become further reformed, and I
may become more fervent and grow spiritually. During the short remainder of my
life, I wish to unite with Christ and the Blessed Mother more closely and
follow Their Way. Thanking the Blessed Mother of Naju and Julia, I will continue
to try to live according to the messages.
'Now, I am not the same me of the past!'

Praise
Jesus!
For
years I had known about the Blessed Mother'sstatue shedding tears and tears of
blood right here in the same town where I lived. Many times, I passed by the
Blessed Mother'sChapel without entering it because I lacked the courage and
felt hesitant.
Then,
on December 8, 1993, Anna, my wife, and I were on the way to the parish church
to attend Mass. While we were walking, I suddenly felt an urge to visit the
Blessed Mother'sChapel. So, after Mass, we went to the Chapel without having
been invited by anyone. Because it was the Feast of the Blessed Mother’s
Immaculate Conception, there were many people at the Chapel to attend a special
prayer meeting. Some of them were lighting candles before a large statue of the
Blessed Mother in the front yard of the Chapel.
As
we entered the Chapel together with other people, a strong, sweet fragrance
greeted us and enwrapped us. When we went to the front, we saw fragrant oil
flowing down from the Blessed Mother'sforehead to the left side of her mantle
down to her feet. I was strongly moved, but also felt my sinfulness. (I smell
the same fragrance again now, as I write this testimony at home.)
At
that time, there was much tension in my family regarding the question of
inheritance. We were blaming and criticizing one another, without paying
attention to how other people might think of us. In the past, when we saw
others fighting over inheritance, we wondered how such a thing was possible and
thought that we would never be like that. It was a great embarrassment and
frustration for us to have the same situation in our own family. Because I
became a Catholic on June 13 of the same year, I was able to control myself
quite well. However, much resentment still remained in my heart.
Then,
after seeing the photographs of the Blessed Mother shedding tears and tears of
blood and after reading her messages, I realized how stupid it was to keep
hatred in my heart. Jesus died on the Cross for our sake, but many people
continue living without repenting their sins. That is why the Blessed Mother is
weeping tears and tears of blood and is giving us fragrant oil by squeezing
herself, anxiously desiring us to repent and listen to her messages. How
fortunate I am, since I realize even now how loving and merciful the Blessed
Mother is!
Because
I am trying to know more about the Blessed Mother and to practice her messages,
I am not the same me of the past. Some people say that, in the past, they tried
to avoid me, because I looked proud and angry, but, now, everybody likes me
because I am friendly, meek, and always smiling. "Is that true? I have been
trying, but have I changed that much? Maybe, it is true, because now I can
smile even when I am angry, thinking about the Blessed Mother'sweeping tears
of blood.
In
the past, every problem was others?fault, not mine. I was also angry at my
wife almost all the time and, sometimes, even struck her. Now, whatever others
may do, I take a step back thinking about the Lord and the Blessed Mother and
remembering Their messages. Then, whatever bad things others may do, they look
so lovely.
All
these are possible by God'sLove and the Blessed Mother'shelp. Thus, if I have
difficulties and pains again today, I will try not just to put up with them but
to offer them up, holding tightly the mantle of the Blessed Mother, who is the
string that ties Heaven and earth together.
'Darkness and
sorrows in my life were replaced
by hope, love, and light'
Rufino Yun-Hoon
Park, Naju, Korea (June 18, 1995)
My
name is Rufino Yun-Hoon Park.
I am a volunteer worker at the Blessed Mother'sHouse in Naju. I would like to
give testimony to my experiences in Naju.
In
the summer of 1983, I first met Mrs. Julia Kim while I was participating in a
retreat hosted by the Blue Army in the Kwangju Archdiocese. It was a very warm
day. Julia was selling books, rosaries and other items displayed on a table,
shedding much sweat under the hot sun. I asked her if it was not too hard for
her. She answered, I wish I could go inside and hear the sermon, but if I
don’t do this, someone else will have to. So I would rather offer it for a soul
who suffers in Purgatory.?
After
the retreat was over, Fr. Anthonio Ha, a missionary priest from Germany and the spiritual director for the Blue
Army in Korea,
came to Julia and said, ?i>We have a real worker here.?Fr. Ha invited
Julia and me to a restaurant, and, after the meal, Julia and I consecrated our
families to the Lord and the Blessed Mother with Fr. Ha'sblessing. Then, Julia
and I visited Mrs. Veronica Kim'sfamily and prayed all night together.
At
that time, I had the responsibility for spreading the Faith at a mission chapel
on an island in the Yellow Sea. I had a deep
spiritual thirst, and traveled all over the country attending many retreats. My
spiritual thirst was not easily quenched. Sometimes, I prayed on a mountaintop
crying out and imploring the Lord loudly. Sometimes, I prayed on a beach. But
the emptiness and wounds in my heart continued.
At
that time, there were many people around the mission chapel who had
tuberculosis. It was unavoidable that I ate and drank together with them.
Gradually, I developed coughing and chest pains. Because of financial
difficulty, we grew some garlic in the yard near the chapel. My wife gave me the
money she received from selling garlic and asked me to go to a large hospital
on the mainland. I thought that I had to do as my wife said, but did not know
where to go on the mainland. After thinking for a while, I went to Julia in
Naju. She suggested that we pray together. For three days and nights we prayed
together fervently, and during those three days, I was healed both spiritually
and physically. Julia suffered so much in my place, coughing and even vomiting
blood.
A
few days later, Julia took me to a hospital for examination including an X-ray.
The doctor said, smiling, I do not see any problem. How can I help you??
From this experience, I learned that, when we are sincerely repentant, God
embraces us in His loving arms and heals the wounds in our souls and bodies
even without going through human doctors. Because I was not sick any longer, I
did not have to spend the money that my wife gave me. So, I wanted to buy a
gift for Julia and her family at the parish gift store, but Julia plainly
refused to receive any gift. After much persuasion, she agreed to accept an
inexpensive rosary. Then, I overheard Julia whispering to herself,Ah, this
Blessed Mother is so beautiful,?looking at a statue. When I offered to buy
that statue for her, she refused to accept it. But when I said that it was the
Lord'sWill, she finally agreed it. I paid 7,500 won (about US$15) for the
statue.
Thus,
darkness and sorrows in my life were replaced by hope, love, and light. I began
to live a new life after meeting Julia. For the first time in my life, a fire
of love was flaming up in me, and an immense peace and joy was overflowing in
my heart. The whole world now looked so beautiful and fresh.
About
a year later, I was informed that the Blessed Mother'sstatue in Julia'shome
shed tears (on June 30, 1985). On July 18, I went to Naju and saw tears in the
Blessed Mother'seyes and, on July 20, saw the tears flowing down.
Afterwards,
I continued visiting Naju from time to time. One day, when I arrived in Naju,
Julia was about to go somewhere. I asked her if I could go with her. She said I
could. While we reached the entrance to the Naju market, she stopped and could
not go any further. I asked, Should I call a taxi??Julia said, No.
We should walk one step after another thinking about the Golgotha Hill which
Jesus climbed carrying the Cross and praying for the conversion of sinners.?As she walked slowly, she was trying to hide her tears.
After a while, Juliastopped again, because there were many little white round bottle caps all over
the ground. Many of them were trampled and dirty. Julia were suffering much
pain that day, but began picking up the bottle caps, saying, Many Sacred
Hosts are being trampled like this (by the people who receive Communion
sacrilegiously).?After picking up all the bottle caps, she continued on
her way, singing a hymn:
Step
after step, His footprints are filled with warm tears and red blood.
Step
after step, the wicked Jewish soldiers and cruel Roman soldiers inflicted blows
on Him.
A
way that you cannot walk without tears, a way that you cannot walk without
blood, it is the narrow way of Golgotha
outside the city gate.
We
need to walk this way if we want eternal life and happiness. Let us keep
walking, even if we are hungry, even if we may die.
Julia
was taking so much time at each step that it took one and a half hours to walk
the distance that normally takes five minutes. When we arrived at the
destination, I saw a little shabby house, where a blind old man was living.
Because
I felt like going to the bathroom but that house did not have any bathroom, I
spend some time looking for one. When I came back, Julia already finished
bathing the old man with warm water. I felt so sorry. I was also amazed and
wondered where Julia found that kind of energy, as she had been quite sick and
weak while coming to that house. When I asked her about it, she said, ?i>Uh! Ireally became okay.?
We laughed together. She said that while she wasburning the little white bottle caps to heat water, praying that the Lord will
forgive those who received Communion sacrilegiously, the pains in her body
disappeared. I thought, The Eucharist! That is right! It is the Eucharist
that gives salvation to those who believe! I did not know much about the
importance of the Eucharist while working at the mission chapel. Now the Lord
is awakening me through a special way!?
Soon
I returned to the island, but Julia continued looking after the blind old man
and even carried him on her back to the church where Fr. John Hee-Dong Park
(Pastor of Naju) baptized him with the baptismal name of Andrew. Later I
realized that when Julia was walking to the old man'shouse, she had difficulty
walking because of interference by the devil who did not want anyone to become
a child of God, but she could win a victory with the love from Jesus.
Later
Julia and I went again to the old man'shouse together. When we arrived there,
Julia suddenly began crying loudly in the kitchen. I asked her what the problem
was and went closer. I saw that mice had eaten some of the rice in the bowl and
made the remaining rice messy and dirty. Julia was crying, because the poor old
man, unable to see, must have eaten that rice. Since then, Julia began praying
that the Lord would restore the old man'ssight. Because the old man still
remained blind, she decided to take him to a hospital for surgery. She evensold her beauty parlor to cover the expense of the surgery.
The doctor, however, refused to perform the surgery, as the nerves in the old man'seyes
were too damaged and could not be restored and he was already eighty-five years
old. Julia kept begging the doctor to do the surgery. Finally, the doctor
consented, but told Julia not to expect even a 0.01% chance for recovery. The
surgery was successful, however, and the old man regained his sight! Many
people in the neighborhood were totally amazed. I saw that Julia was like the
Good Samaritan. I saw inside Julia an immense love of the living Lord. I was
deeply impressed.
One
day I asked Julia if she had read any books on St. Th??e of Lisieux, the
Little Flower. She answered that she had not. I often thought that there was a
similarity between St. Th??e and Julia. I realized that Julia was a
beautiful, little soul who lived only for love, love, and love, like St.
Th??e .
For
many years, I had read many books on spirituality. My head was filled with
knowledge, but what would be the use if I did not practice any of it? I knew
that Julia had not read any books on spirituality. I thought that she was a
sacrifice-maniac and a woman who was mad with the love for God. I felt ashamed
realizing that knowledge could be an obstacle to practicing love, if it is not
acted upon. On June 23, 1987, I reported to the pastor of my parish and my
family moved to Naju.
Since
then, I have been working at a close distance from Julia, witnessing so many
signs like tears, tears of blood, sweat and fragrant oil from the Blessed
Mother'sstatue, Eucharistic miracles, and more. The signs that have been given
to us through the Blessed Mother transcend the natural laws and cannot be
understood by human reasoning. As one among hundreds of thousands of witnesses
who have personally seen and experienced these signs, I firmly believe that
they have been great graces from God the Father. Responding withAmen?to
the call by Jesus and the Blessed Mother Who wish to perform great miracles of
love for the whole human race, I try to continue to be loyal to Them as a
little, humble soul.
I
have seen that Julia has suffered a lot because of many groundless, preposterous
accusations and rumors. It hurts my heart and other volunteer helpers? but
Julia thinks that those pains are her lot, a love from God for reparation for
the sins in the world, and accepts them gladly, smiling beautifully. But she
also sheds many tears for those who commit such sins, asking the Lord to
forgive them and pour graces on them.
I
am unworthy, but will continue to try to help Julia for the triumph of the
Blessed Mother'sImmaculate Heart, as Julia is doing her best to save even one
more soul, as a faithful instrument of the Blessed Mother.
Jesus!
Blessed Mother! I love You! Embrace in Your Hearts all those souls who come to
You, calling Your holy names. Amen.
'My failure to love
my husband made him become worse
as a husband and father'
Maria
Hyun-Soon Yoo, Seoul
(June 19, 1995)
I
have been married for thirteen years. I have a husband, a son and a daughter,
but I have been the head of the household. As I had a small restaurant, my husband
quit his job without hesitation seven years ago and began staying home, not
doing any work. He also constantly nagged the children and me. We quarreled
every day. It seemed as though we did not belong to the same family. Sometimes,
I even complained to God, Lord, why did You find such an incapable husband
for me??I disliked him so much that I sometimes wished he would have a
traffic accident when he went out some place. I even began thinking about a
divorce.
I
am a cradle Catholic, but went to church only when it was convenient. I was not
sincerely practicing the Faith and lived in my own way. Deep in my heart, I
felt lonely. My elder sister, however, had been visiting Naju for ten years,
and frequently invited me to come with her, saying that the Blessed Mother was
weeping for us; she was giving us the fragrant oil and the fragrance of roses;
and we could restore peace in the family if we went there. One day I found time
to follow her to Naju.
When
we arrived in Naju and entered the Chapel, we smelled a strong fragrance
filling the whole Chapel. I attended the overnight prayer meeting hoping for
some visible miracles. But the man who was leading the prayer meeting said that
Julia was unable to come out because of intense suffering, and asked us to pray
harder. As I began to pray, I suddenly screamed loudly,Mother, everything
was my fault. My failure to love my husband made him become worse as a husband
and father. It was my sins that made him an incapable person and a sinner.?
I could not control my tears and my screaming, Julia is suffering because
of me. Mother, please forgive this sinner. I will never hate my husband again.
I will love him and bring up the children, your blessed gifts, well. I will be
a good daughter of yours.
After
I returned home, my husband'sdaily ritual of nagging sounded like a melody of
love. Gradually, my husband also changed and became a most caring husband and
father. He is now a best teacher for the children, helping their studies at
home. I continue to visit Naju on every First Saturday. I fly there on Saturday
evening and fly back to Seoul
the next morning. My faith is growing in the love of the Blessed Mother and
Julia.
Mommy!
Mommy! Now I can overcome any difficulties and pains. I am a little overweight,
but am trying to keep a heart that exudes a fragrance of roses.
'A miracle, which I
had only heard about, occurred before my eyes'
Chong-Won
Kang, Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province,
Korea (July 3,
1995)
My
baby girl, 14 months old, had convulsions for unknown reasons and was admitted
to Soonchunhyang Hospital
in Seoul on
April 19, 1995. There she received treatment for two months. The doctor did his
best, but there was no improvement. We moved her to a different hospital, which
was an oriental herbal clinic belonging to the medical school at Kyung-Hee University
in Seoul, and
then to the pediatrics clinic in the same university, but her condition
continued to worsen. The diagnosis was Wolf Syndrome, which is a very rare
disease, occurring only to one baby among fifty thousand. We were so depressedafter hearing from the doctor that there was no more hope.
We moved the babyback to Soonchunhyang
Hospital, because we
could not take her home and just watch her die. Then, we called a Catholic
woman by the name of Clara Lee, who was a friend of a relative of ours. We
asked her to recommend a Catholic prayer house. Clara Lee said that there was
no prayer house for healing in the Catholic Church and suggested that we take
the baby to the Blessed Mother'sHouse in Naju in Jeonnam Province.
So, we decided that we would not let the baby die until we asked God for the
last time rather than just let her die at home. We took the baby out of the
hospital on June 28, 1995, and directly went to the Blessed Mother's House (theChapel) in Naju.
We entrusted the baby to the Will of God and began praying. While in Naju, we witnessed truly amazing events on June 30. At about 4:30 p.m. I stepped out
of the Chapel, because people were saying that there was a miracle of the sun.
I looked at the sun and saw an image of the Eucharist rotating inside the sun.
It was truly amazing. During the prayer meeting that night, some said that they
saw Sacred Hosts descending to the altar before the Blessed Mother'sstatue. At
the end of the prayer meeting, I went to the front of the Chapel and saw the
seven Sacred Hosts.
At
about 10:30 p.m.
on July 2, we gathered around the seven people chosen to consume the seven
Sacred Hosts that had descended on the previous night. We were with our sick
baby and were praying. The last person who received Communion was Julia. We saw
that, a few seconds after she received the Eucharist, the Sacred Host was
changing into visible Flesh and Blood on her tongue. At that moment, I was sure
that God exists and, with a deep confidence in Him, asked Him to heal the baby,
holding her in my arms. “God, please let my baby live! I begged Him.
A
priest dipped one of his fingers in the Blood on Julia'stongue and, with that
finger, made the Sign of the Cross on our baby'sforehead. At that moment, I
was sure that the baby was going to live. With an overwhelming joy, we cried a
lot and offered up a prayer of thanksgiving.
On
the same night, I could not sleep and was standing outside the Chapel and
praying before the Blessed Mother'slarge statue in the yard. There also were
two priests from abroad, two other foreign pilgrims and Sebastian Kwon from
Bucheon in Korea.
One of the two priests, who was from Guam,
stepped on the rocks to get closer to the Blessed Mother'sstatue, because hesaw something unusual.
What he saw was tears on the Blessed Mother'sstatueoutside the Chapel. I was very amazed and looked closely at the Blessed
Mother'sface. She indeed was shedding tears from her eyes, mucous from her
nostrils, and sweat from her face. The front yard where the statue was became
filled with the fragrance of roses. It was truly a miracle. A miracle, which I
had only heard about, occurred before my eyes.
I
swear that my testimony is true. We are still overwhelmed with what happened
and continue thanking God.
(Translator'snote: We have been informed that that
the baby girl, who was healed on July 2, 1995 in the Chapel in Naju, continues
to grow as a healthy, happy child.)
'Our Heavenly
Mother! Open our spiritual eyes and ears and fill them with your messages'
Margarita
Jung-Ja Choi, Anseong, Gyeonggi Province,
Korea (July 5,
1995)
The
following is a record of what I clearly saw and what I felt.
From
about 2 a.m. on July 1, 1995, when I was attending an overnight prayer meeting
in the Chapel in Naju, I began feeling severe pains in my chest. At about 3:45 a.m., I heard
sounds of forceful raindrops. I thought that there was a shower outside. Severe
pains were spreading from my chest to the pleura and shoulders. I thought thatmy breast cancer which the Blessed Mother had cured was coming back.
In myhands and feet also, I felt piercing pains. While we were listening to the
reading of the Blessed Mother'smessage received on July 30, I began feeling
pains in my head. I became scared and, looking at the Crucifix, prayed. Lord,
let this sinner be nailed to the Cross. At that moment, I saw Jesus on the
Crucifix above the Blessed Mother'sstatue bleeding from His Seven Wounds. The
Blood did not drip on the floor, but turned into the white Eucharist at the
ends of Our Lord'sfeet.
At
that moment, Julia fell down on the floor and I heard someone shouting loudly.
?i>The Eucharist is coming down!?/i> People swarmed around the altar. There
was much commotion and noise. Julia was carried into her house and my pains
slowly disappeared.
A
while later, Rufino Park said that the Precious Blood from Our Lord'sFive Wounds
plus the wounds on the forehead caused by the crown of thorns and the wounds in
the Sacred Heart turned into seven Sacred Hosts and came down in order toreveal His Real Presence.
Rufino further said that, in this urgent time, eventhe Blood from the Five Wounds was not enough and, so, the Blood from the Seven
Wounds was shed to clean our dirty souls and bodies. Julio, Julia'shusband,
said that Julia was suffering the pains of Our Lord'sSeven Wounds and also
that she was not able to speak because her tongue was stuck to the palate in
reparation for the sins of sacrilegious Communions and judging others. I
clearly saw that Our Lord'sPrecious Blood was truly in the Eucharist, behind
the appearance of white bread.
I
have a deep respect and love for Julia, who chose to lead a life of suffering
and, thus, participate in the sufferings of Jesus and the Blessed Mother for
the conversion of sinners. I think that to persecute Julia and interfere with
her work for the Blessed Mother is to oppose the Lord'sWill. That is because
Jesus and the Blessed Mother have said, “I work through my poor little soul
who suffers constantly.
Our
Heavenly Mother! Open our spiritual eyes and ears and fill them with your
messages like a river to accomplish the Lord'sWill. Amen.

UNUSUAL SUN PHENOMENA, JUNE 30, 1995
In
obedience to the instruction by Archbishop Yoon to refrain from public
celebrations of the tenth anniversary of the Blessed Mother'sfirst weeping in
Naju, pilgrims came privately to the Chapel and prayed the rosary together. The
sky was completely overcast, and rain seemed likely. At about 4 p.m. the sky
was clearing above the Chapel and the sun appeared. One of the pilgrims who
were outside the Chapel screamed, It is the Holy Eucharist! Ihurriedly went outside the Chapel and looked at the sun.
The sun could belooked at without straining one'seyes. It looked like the Eucharist and was
pulsating like a heart and was also rotating and radiating light in different
colors. I could see images of the cross within the sun which looked like the
Eucharist. The light was shining upon the Chapel in different colors. A grade
school principal was among the pilgrims and was looking at the sun with his
binoculars. He said that the sun looked like the Eucharist and was radiating in
different colors.
2. A
EUCHARISTIC MIRACLE AT ABOUT 7:30 P.M. ON JUNE 30, 1995
The
Naju Parish Church
was packed with pilgrims. Julia was sitting on the floor in the back of the
church assisting an elderly priest from Japan, who was in a wheelchair. The
Mass was concelebrated by the Pastor of Naju and seven priests from abroad.
When
Julia received Communion and came back to her place, she was still in much pain
and was weeping. Shortly, she began feeling something unusual about the Sacred
Host in her mouth and opened her mouth to me for a look. I saw her mouth filled
with blood. Several other pilgrims also saw this and one of them said, It
is blood! More people tried to see it, making some noise. Because the Mass
was not over yet, the Pastor began scolding the people. What is this? Keep
order. Aren’t you ashamed? Foreign visitors are watching. There is a committee
investigating Naju. Because of your behavior like this, Naju is being
criticized. Next year I will be celebrating the twenty-fifth anniversary of my
ordination. Until now, I have never seen anything like this. What is this
during the Sacred Mass? The Mass is most important…”
After
Mass, many people gathered around Julia. Fr. Louis Bosmans from Canada,
who had been in the front of the church, came and began videotaping. Three
other priests also came. Someone said that the Pastor had to see it. So, I went
outside the church and looked for the Pastor, but Fr. Jerry Orbos from the Philippines and Mrs. Rose Lee from Los Angeles were already
speaking to the Pastor. They asked him to come and see the miracle, but the
Pastor said, I believe without seeing.?He seemed more relaxed and said
that he did not know that Julia was in the back of the church. I went back to
Julia and helped her come outside the church. Julia said to the Pastor, ?i>I
am sorry, Father.?The Pastor told us to take Julia home hurriedly, because
she appeared to be weak and in pain.
3.
SEVEN HOSTS, WHICH WE BELIEVE WERE THE EUCHARIST, CAME DOWN FROM THE CRUCIFIX,
MAKING SOUNDS, AT ABOUT 3:45
A.M. ON JULY 1, 1995
Many
pilgrims came, but returned home after praying briefly in the Chapel, because
they saw a notice on the door that there would not be any special event in
commemoration of the tenth anniversary of the Blessed Mother'sfirst weeping in
Naju in obedience to the instruction by the Archbishop. However, there still
were about 1,500 pilgrims remaining and continuing to pray inside and outside
the Chapel. Julia was also praying in the Chapel, holding the hands of Fr.
Francis Su from Malaysia.
She had received some understanding that a special sign would be given that
night. At about 3:45 a.m.
on July 1, 1995, she saw a vision while praying. She saw Jesus on the woodenCrucifix in the Chapel becoming alive.
He was bleeding from His five wounds(two hands, two feet and side), His forehead, and His Heart. Soon the Blood
turned into seven white Sacred Hosts and came down. Julia stood up suddenly and
stretched out her hands to receive the Sacred Hosts. But the Sacred Hosts
landed on the altar in front of the Blessed Mother'sstatue. Many people in the
Chapel heard sounds of a brief hailstorm; some people saw the white Sacred
Hosts descending from above the Blessed Mother'sstatue.

ANOTHER EUCHARISTIC MIRACLE ON JULY 2, 1995
At
about 5:10 p.m.
on July 2, what happened in the Chapel in the previous morning was reported by Rufino Park
to Fr. Julio Moo-Woong Kim, the Pastor of Naju. The Pastor called me and
instructed that the Hosts be consumed immediately and I report to him
afterwards. Because we were about to go to Mass in the Parish Church at 7:30 p.m. there was not
enough time to carry out the Pastor'sinstruction before Mass. After Mass, the
Pastor asked me if his instruction was carried out. He said that he had
reported to Archbishop Yoon immediately after instructing us to consume theHosts and asked the Archbishop if his instruction was proper.
The Archbishopsaid that it was proper. The Pastor said that he was only relaying the
Archbishop'sinstruction and that, if we did not follow the Archbishop’s
instruction, we would be in disobedience to him. He also said that, even if the
Archbishop'sinstruction were wrong, the Blessed Mother would not hold us
responsible for failing to preserve the Hosts, because she also practiced
obedience herself. The Pastor said that whether we obeyed the Archbishop’s
instruction or not was up to us. I reminded him that the Eucharist in Lanciano, Italy,
had been preserved and that the Hosts in Naju should also be preserved, in case
an investigation to find out if they were truly the Eucharist became necessary.
The Pastor said that, if they were real Eucharist, they could not be left inthe Chapel and there also could be a danger of careless handling and that,
because the Hosts have not been confirmed to be real Eucharist, they could not
be placed in the tabernacle in the Parish
Church, either. Rufino
and Rose Lee also joined the discussion. Pilgrims continued praying and
worshipping the seven Sacred Hosts which were still where they had landed.
As
I was president of the Parish Committee, I attended its meeting from 11 a.m. It
was Sunday. When the meeting was over, the Pastor asked me again if we did as
instructed. I told him that it was not done yet and asked him, ?i>How can I
pick up the Eucharist myself and consume It??I asked him to come and
administer Communion. But he insisted that I do it myself. I told him that I
would ask two priests from abroad who had witnessed the descent of the
Eucharist. The Pastor said that we should do it before the day was over and
that he would subsequently report it to the Archbishop.
So,
we selected seven people and began the Communion ceremony at 9:30 p.m. The ceremony
was presided over by Fr. Francis Su from Malaysia
and Fr. Pete Marcial from Guam. The first
Sacred Host was received by Fr. Su, the second by Fr. Marcial, the third by
myself, the fourth by Rufino
Park, the fifth by
Lawrence Choi, the sixth by Andrew Park, and the seventh by Julia. When I
received Communion, I smelled the fragrance of roses. When Julia received the
Sacred Host at about 11 p.m., It changed into visible Flesh and Blood in her
mouth. As the Sacred Host was turning into visible Flesh and Blood, it also
became larger. All of the 89 foreign and Korean pilgrims present in the Chapel
including the seven people who received Communion witnessed the miracle. It was
also photographed and videotaped. The witnesses signed their names at the end
of a written testimony.
'When the cloth that
had absorbed fragrant oil was
placed on me, a miracle happened'
Mrs.
Mercedes Diploma, Manila, The Philippines (November 14, 1995)
While
I was visiting a friend'shouse earlier this month, I became ill, experiencing
much difficulty breathing and feeling extremely dizzy. I felt that I might be
dying and went to a hospital. Doctors diagnosed my condition as stenocardia
(the narrowing of blood vessels in the heart). My blood pressure was 240 over
130. To make things worse, they also found out that my lungs were filled with
fluid. They sent me to an intensive care unit.
For
almost four days, I was in a coma and did not know what was happening to me.
Because I was not getting any oxygen, doctors decided to insert a tube through
a hole in my neck. At that moment, my son, Nordy Diploma, asked the doctors to
wait for a few minutes and gave me a piece of cloth that had absorbed the
fragrant oil from Our Lady'sstatue in Naju. Julia Kim had given that cloth to
Nordy. When the cloth was placed on me, a miracle happened. My blood pressure
came down to 140 over 80. I felt my condition improving. There was no need for
surgery, as my health was improving.
Later
this cloth was lost while I was still in the hospital room. So, Nordy gave me
his handkerchief that Julia had prayed over during her visit to the Philippines.
I touched various parts of myself with that handkerchief. My health continued
improving and soon I was out of hospital. Now, I am healthier than before.
Thank you so much.

My
beloved little souls! The sun is light. The Lord Who came as Light is shedding
light on you by opening Heaven. These signs from Heaven signify the mystery of

—The
Blessed Mother'sMessage in Naju on December 5, 1991
It
was February 4, 1995, when I first visited Naju. It was January 5 according to the
Lunar Calendar, just a few days after New Year'sDay, a big holiday in Korea.
It was also my fifty-fifth birthday. In previous years, there were lively
celebrations on my birthdays with lots of food prepared by my wife, Theresa,
and with many visiting relatives. But, this year, we asked our relatives not to
come, because I was going to visit Naju together with my wife and my
sister-in-law (my wife'selder sister), who was in her seventies. Many
expressed concern about the trip considering my poor health.
We
arrived in Naju at about 8 p.m. The Chapel, which is a little larger than a
school classroom, was completely packed with seven to eight hundred people. I
managed to step in the back corner of the Chapel, but could not find enough
space to sit. I finally sat down with my legs crouched. It was hard for me
because of the continuing pain in my heart. I kept feeling like running out of
the Chapel. I could not pay attention to the talk given by Julio, Julia’s
husband.
I
thought, “People should be sleeping at this hour. Why are these people
spending the night in this crowded Chapel?
I
came to Naju after three months of struggling with my illness: the hardening of
the arteries in my heart and enlargement of the heart. It was my last effort.
Doctors had told me that my heart was functioning at less than twenty percent
of its capacity and that I could live only about six more months at most,
unless I received a new heart. How could I describe the shock to my family! I
learned this only when my wife told me about it. But the operation for a heart
transplant would be a very difficult and risky one. Besides, it would be
extremely difficult to find a heart to transplant. I gave up staying in the
hospital and began a life of continuous prayer.
I
had been away from the Church for ten years since my marriage. It was a time
full of vicissitudes: neglecting the Church, wandering and failing in business.
How can I repent all of my sinful life? Will the Lord really forgive me?
Because of my heart drooping down below the left side of my chest, it was
difficult for me to sit up, lie down or move around. I had trouble sleeping and
also frequently had severe difficulty breathing while in bed, which was a
life-threatening situation.
I
also had trouble eating and lost more than twenty pounds. As I was approaching
death, I received the Sacrament of the Sick from the Pastor. Relatives and
friends kept visiting me.
The
first night in Naju was a difficult one for me because of the pain in my heart.
My wife was watching me and asked me to go outside for fresh air. But I
couldn’t. Besides, I was listening to the readings of the Blessed Mother’s
messages. Near dawn, Julia began praying for individuals. Because I was sitting
in the back, I had my turn only at about 7 a.m. When I went to the front where
the Blessed Mother'sstatue was, I smelled a strong fragrance of roses. I didnot know where it was coming from.
I bowed before the Blessed Mother'sstatueand saw Julia, who was greeting me with a big, kind smile. I felt like crying
like a child in the mother'sbosom. But I hesitated. There has been so much
pain in my life. My physical pain has been excessive. I held Julia'shands. At
that moment, my wife, who was standing behind me, said to Julia with much
impatience, “Sister, my husband is seriously ill. He can live only by a
heart transplant. We came from far away, from Incheon. Julia touched me where my heart
was and prayed.
The
prayer service was over and we were on the way back home. Because we did not
sleep at all at night, we fell asleep in the bus. When I woke up, I could see
the sign outside the bus: Chonan (a city about 150 miles north of Naju
and 50 miles south of Incheon).
Almost unconsciously, I touched where my heart was with my hand. I felt it was
strange. There was no pain! I got excited and woke up my wife and
sister-in-law, who were sleeping. I stood up, twisted myself, and pressed down
where the heart was with my fingers. Still no pain! Alleluia! Thank You, Lord!
You gave me a birthday present by curing me during my first meeting with the
Blessed Mother in Naju. I remembered the Blessed Mother'smessage that the sign
that she was bestowing upon us from Heaven was a Mystery of Salvation.
Later
(June 9), I was examined by the doctors. They found out that my heart was
functioning at forty-seven percent of its capacity, up from less than twenty
percent only five months ago. Doctors said that a surgery would not be
necessary. They were totally amazed by this. I sincerely realized that the
Lord'spower is above the most advanced medical technology. I thank the Lord
and the Blessed Mother for calling me to a new life.
'I witnessed the
miracle during the Apostolic
Pro-Nuncio'svisit'
Juliana
Sun-Yang Kim, Incheon, Korea (November 25, 1995)
November
24, 1994: it was the second anniversary of the beginning of the fragrant oil
from the Blessed Mother'sstatue in Naju. It was also the day when the
Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in Korea
(an Archbishop from the Vatican)
visited the Blessed Mother'sHouse (the Chapel in Naju). I came to Naju from Incheon before the
Apostolic Pro-Nuncio'sarrival. I was praying in the Blessed Mother'sHouse.
A while later, the Apostolic Pro-Nuncio, his
secretary (a Monsignor), Fr. Raymond Spies, and Fr. Sang-Chul Oh of the
Chunchon Diocese arrived. There also were pilgrims from Sokcho, Seoul, Incheon, Busan, Daegu, Jeonju, Kwangju and
other cities in Korea.
I was paying much attention to Julia. While we were praying quietly in the
Blessed Mother'sHouse, Julia was talking to Fr. Spies briefly. Then, Fr. Spies
and Julia together approached the Apostolic Pro-Nuncio, who was praying, and
suggested to him that a queen'scrown be placed on the Blessed Mother'sstatue.
The Apostolic Pro-Nuncio gladly agreed and asked that the crown be brought to
him. He placed the crown on the Blessed Mother'shead.
Then,
Julia walked toward Fr. Spies who was in meditation and said to him,
Father, light is radiating down from the Crucifix. Fr. Spies indicated
that he understood. A moment later, Julia talked to Fr. Spies again quietly.
Fr. Spies and Julia together went to the Apostolic Pro-Nuncio. Julia asked the
Apostolic Pro-Nuncio and Fr. Spies to bless her hands. Fr. Spies received from
Julia a small bottle containing some of the fragrant oil that oozed out of the
Blessed Mother'sstatue about two years ago and gave it to the Apostolic
Pro-Nuncio. The Apostolic Pro-Nuncio blessed Julia'shands with the oil. Fr.
Spies also blessed Julia'shands.
Then,
Julia knelt before the Blessed Mother'sstatue and began praying. Suddenly she
collapsed on the floor. I was frightened and rushed to her. Julia was trembling
with pain and had a half of the large Eucharist that priests use between the
fingers of her right hand and the other half in her left hand. Julia gave one
half of the Eucharist to the Apostolic Pro-Nuncio and the other half to Fr.
Spies. The Eucharist had an image of the cross in the middle and also the
letters “A?and w?just as in the photograph taken in Naju on June 27, 1993.
The
Apostolic Pro-Nuncio and Fr. Spies each consumed a small piece of the Eucharist
and then gave Communion to Julia and other people who were present. Seven
priests and about seventy lay people received Communion. After everyone
received Communion, two pieces of the Eucharist were left. Fr. Spies put them
in the small pyx that he brought from Anyang.
I learned that this Eucharist was brought to Julia by St. Michael the Archangel. I was wondering if this Eucharist had been
received by someone sacrilegiously. But is it not possible that I alsosometimes received Communion sacrilegiously?
This was a very humbling thought.I was trembling inside and was shedding tears. The Sacred Host melted in my
mouth softly like snow. A man from Sunchon was unable to swallow the Eucharist,
because he had anger in his heart and did not go to Confession before
Communion. Everyone who witnessed this amazing Eucharistic Miracle that God
bestowed upon us was in total awe and felt overwhelming joy. Some were crying loudly.
Julia
said she was feeling cold and wanted to go to her house next door and write
down the message that she just received. She said to the Apostolic Pro-Nuncio,
“The Blessed Mother called Your Excellency here today very specially. She is
asking Your Excellency to help prepare a tabernacle here and help allow the
celebration of Mass here.
Julia
was about to step out of the Blessed Mother'sHouse when the Blessed Mother
called her hurriedly. “Julia! Hold the hands of the priests, Giovanni and
your spiritual director, whom I can put in my eyes without feeling any pain and
come to me.Julia held the hands of the Apostolic Pro-Nuncio and Fr.
Spies, who were praying, and they approached the Blessed Mother'sstatue
together. Julia began praying with her eyes closed, still holding the hands of
the Apostolic Pro-Nuncio and Fr. Spies with both her hands.
Suddenly,
she raised herself while still kneeling and turned her head upward. At that
moment, a small Eucharist came down upon Julia'stongue. The Apostolic Pro
Nuncio took the Eucharist from Julia'stongue and showed the Host to people
gathered there. Then, he put the Eucharist in the small pyx that Fr. Spies had.
After
some time, the Apostolic Pro-Nuncio gave us the Papal blessing and left the
Blessed Mother'sHouse. Later, we learned that he came to Naju not as a private
pilgrim but as the official representative of the Holy Father. Also, we
remembered the Blessed Mother'spromise (in her October 23, 1994 message) that
she would call the Apostolic Pro-Nuncio. We were all overjoyed and thanked God.
For
the past several years, I have witnessed many amazing miracles in Naju: tears
and tears of blood from Our Lady'sstatue, fragrant oil from the same statue,
Eucharistic Miracles several times, the fragrance of roses, healings of cancers
and other incurable illnesses, and so on. But the miracle I witnessed yesterday
was most amazing. I am overjoyed when I think that, by this miracle, the
Blessed Mother is trying to lead us to her Son in the Eucharist, the living
Jesus. I am making a new resolution to repent my past sins more sincerely and
to live a better life.
(Note:
The Blessed Mother was calling the Apostolic Pro-Nuncio “Giovanni.
Julia asked one of the priests, “Is the Apostolic Pro-Nuncio'sname
Giovanni? The priest did not know, either. He looked it up in the Catholic
Directory and found out that it was indeed the Apostolic Pro-Nuncio'sfirst
name.)
'It took a long time
for me to acquire a true understanding
of the Blessed Mother, a deep trust in her, and a habit of praying
to her'
John
Ki-Byung Choi, Naju, Jeonnam Province,
Korea (June 14,
1996)
I
have been a Catholic for more than 20 years, but it took a long time for me to
acquire a true understanding of the Blessed Mother, a deep trust in her, and a
habit of praying to her. I used to think of the Blessed Mother simply as the
mother of Jesus in the secular way. Sometimes, I had some vague perception of
her as an intercessor for us before God and a very merciful mother as taught in
the Catechism class. When I was in crises, I prayed to her desperately asking
for her help. It was in the middle of August 1987 when I really experienced her
love and mercy and became closer to her.
I
live in Naju and have been a close friend and colleague of Julio Kim at work
for more than fifteen years. I heard about the Blessed Mother'stears, but did
not visit the place until August 1987 even though it was so close to my home.
Then, Julio told me that, because more and more pilgrims were coming, Julia and
he were looking for a new location where a Chapel could be built, and asked me
to find an appropriate place. I spent some time considering several places
within the City of Naju
and visited Julio'shome at Soogang Apartments for the first time to give them
the information.
When
I got there, I felt somewhat awkward and heard the sound of pilgrims praying
the rosary from the inside of the apartment. I could not enter the place until
the prayer was over. While waiting outside the apartment, I felt bored and also
a little curious, and tried to look into the room through the peephole on the
door. Of course, I knew that the peepholes were made for looking from the
inside only. To my great surprise, however, I saw the Blessed Mother standing,
enwrapped in brilliant light and with a shining halo above her head. I thought
that I might be seeing an illusion, and looked again and again, but I could
still see her. I also thought that maybe the Blessed Mother'sstatue was placed
very close to the door.
When
the prayer was over, I entered the room and looked for the statue before
anything else. The statue was not close to the door at all. After the meeting
with Julio and Julia, I came out and again looked through the peephole from the
outside, but could not see anything. I realized that I met the living Blessed
Mother.
The
next day I went back to Julio'sapartment and saw the Blessed Mother'sstatue
weeping tears. Fr. Raymond Spies also came, and we prayed together. I stayed
there for over an hour, praying and looking at the Blessed Mother weeping.
Since then, I have had no hesitation about giving testimonies.
Several
years ago, I was saved from being killed in an accident thanks to the Blessed
Mother'shelp. For more than 25 years, I had been riding a motorcycle to work
and everywhere. On August 16, 1991, I was going to work on a motorcycle at high
speed, eighty kilometers (fifty miles) per hour. Suddenly, I saw the Blessed
Mother wearing a white dress, saying to me, ?i>What would happen if you had aflat tire on the front wheel? Reduce speed.?/i>
I immediately sloweddown to about sixty kilometers (thirty-seven miles) per hour. Then, less than
twenty seconds later, I lost control of the motorcycle, and the motorcycle
rolled over several times on the paved road. I was severely wounded with one
rib and one arm broken, and had to stay in the hospital for twenty days. If I
had not slowed down after seeing the Blessed Mother, I would surely have been
killed. The motorcycle was damaged beyond repair. The cause of the accident was
a flat tire on the front wheel. It was evident that the Blessed Mother loved me
so much that she saved me despite my unworthiness.
Since
then, I have always been aware of the Blessed Mother'slove and mysteriousness.
I have also attended every overnight prayer meeting and visited the Chapel
whenever I wanted to see the Blessed Mother.
I
used to have hypertension combined with severe diabetes and heart disease, but
I have been completely healed without even noticing it for a while. Now, with a
healthy body, I am trying to lead a life of prayer, conversion, and
thanksgiving with the Blessed Mother. I keep praying that God will make a total
use of me and leave nothing for myself.
Alleluia,
Amen.
'The Sacred Host in
Julia'smouth became larger and
turned into visible flesh during the Mass celebrated by the Holy Father'
Rufino Yun-Hoon
Park, Naju, Jeonnam Province, Korea
(March 1997)
Praise,
thanksgiving and glory to the Lord Who is truly present in the Eucharist!
I
have been so blessed to have personally witnessed more than ten times the
amazing Eucharistic miracles that have been accomplished by the Lord Himself.
On
October 31, 1995, we visited the Vatican together with Msgr. Nam-Ik
Paik, the secretary general of the Korean Bishops?Conference. Our group from Korea and several people from France were invited to attend the
private Mass of the Holy Father. We were delighted to be allowed to sing the
entrance antiphon and the offertory hymn in Korean. At the time of Holy
Communion, the Sacred Host that Julia received turned into visible Flesh and
Blood, which was another manifestation of the Mystery of the Holy Eucharist
that the Blessed Mother brought to us through Julia.
According
to Msgr. Paik, who closely observed the Eucharistic miracle while it was
happening, the Sacred Host first became larger and turned into Flesh, forming
the shape of a heart. He said that it was the same as in an earlier Eucharistic
miracle that had occurred during a Mass celebrated in Naju by Bishop Roman Danylakfrom Toronto, Canada, on September 22, 1995.
WhenMsgr. Paik was later shown the photograph of the miracle of September 22, 1995,
he said that what he saw (in the Vatican) was much clearer. He
further said that, while he was witnessing the process of the Eucharistic
miracle and it was so obvious that the Sacred Host turned into Flesh in the
shape of a heart, he felt anxious to inform the Holy Father. But he hesitated,
because the Holy Father was in meditation and he was afraid of disturbing the
Holy Father. Msgr. Paik later said that he regretted having hesitated and thus
missing the chance to report this promptly and fully to the Holy Father.
